Seriously would like someone to answer this, how long can a ref just let play go before they decide to arbitrarily go back and review a play? Why not just start reviewing shit from the 1st half too? Maybe they should abolish retroactive VAR review for penalties if play was let on and only allow review if it's called on the spot.

By the way, I'm not arguing that it was a red card, simply the review mechanism is bizarre to me.

They showed England supporters with their kids in the crowd earlier and man did it ever make me squeamish as a dad who loves taking his kids to ballgames. Some environments just aren’t meant for kids.

I get it and i dont. It was an obvious thing that happened so I get it but so much of soccer seems to be "we do whatever we want whenever we want"

It's like a possible targeting happening, and then deciding to stop play and review it like 3 plays later. Very weird.

This is a good sport that is somewhat continually ruined by the nonsense surrounding the officiating. The way the rules are inconsistently applied, the seemingly random level of severity of each penalty (murder someone? free kick. Lightly graze someone? PK.), the constant flopping, the way the players waste time by arguing with the ref which is permitted, and the nonsense extra time stuff. It's all so bad.

This game is wild! Mexico and their bullshit do make them an easy villain to root against.

From the first game Brazil seems to have lost all the free-flow and just come off apathetic (to the untrained eye).

This is fun
