First seek to understand what you’re talking about then open your pie hole. It was never about how much someone gets paid. It was about the fact that there’s no loyalty to a school and there’s really no reason to enjoy a player’s recruitment when the player leaves in a year to the highest bidder.

Then don’t follow recruiting? I don’t know what to tell you. This is an entertainment product and if you aren’t being entertained then maybe it isn’t for you.

Notre Dame has had less flips in the recent year than in years prior. Were you broken up and doom posting when Greg Crippen wasn’t fully sold and flipped? Cade McNamara?

It’s 2026, Notre Dame is paying kids to be “loyal” and if you can’t see that then I don’t know what to say.

I guess NIL the portal and super big bucks in the NFL has led to the demise of so many entertaining games we used to enjoy. No more pro bowl, college all star games gone. East west shrine game and senior bowl used to have mostly first and second round draft choices. Players sitting out of bowl games now etc. soon we will probably lose the blue gold game. I guess I just miss the old days and now we have lost the usc game! I suppose joining a conference is next. Oh well the recruiting is just a distraction during the downtime. I have a feeling less players will leave college with a degree in this portal world but some might make enough money to make the jumping around worth it but I doubt it.

I’d argue you're going to see more kids leave with degrees since they can hang around and get top dollar in college vs maybe being a marginal draft prospect.

This is the saddest post I’ve ever read. 🥺

I think both thoughts and attitudes can be correct at the same time:

It is unfortunate to see rosters getting absolutely GUTTED by guys leaving for NIL deals and coaching changes (see Iowa St. for the second one). Loyalty to programs is less than ever before, and that does sting to a lot of CFB purists that love how different CFB was supposed to be compared to the NFL.

It is also true that NIL has opened the doors for more equality amongst MOST of college football. Some schools are definitely feeling pains from it, and are being used as minor league teams (C-USA, Sun Belt, MAC for instance), but the roster hoarding does seem to be less than before.

I think a lot of people assumed we'd have the edge because of his dad, but I've never gotten the impression that Julius was that high on ND from an alumni standpoint. I've said it before, but I don't think Julius Sr. has come back to campus much at all, if ever really, and just briefly checking out his social media he makes no mention of ND it seems. It's all NFL. I don't get the feeling dad is pushing his son to his old stomping grounds.

I saw a few videos where other recruits said he was a huge Irish fan.

And this is why college football is quickly becoming zero fun. When every every single player is a mercenary ready to jump ship toany crappy team that brings out their checkbook.

Are there people that actually enjoy this?
It’s better if you just take a step back maybe. Sometimes it’s not best to see how the sausage is made.

Unless his dad legit hates Notre Dame or he hates his dad I'd have a hard time believing he isn't a Notre Dame fan.

Whether he decides to go to Notre Dame is another matter altogether. Might choose ND, might choose somewhere else.

There will be good data on this at some point I'm sure. Curious what it will show.

I enjoy this discourse concerning the loyalty of a person who has never played for or attended the University of Notre Dame to the University of Notre Dame.
But we wanted to play for the University of Notre Dame!

Sr. or Jr? Like I said, if his old man is still big on the Irish he doesn't really show it, but I'd love it if I'm wrong. I don't have any inside knowledge, he just hasn't repped the merch, haven't seen shout outs publicly to the university, and I don't think he's made a ton of former player events to my knowledge. Maybe he's just quiet about his love.

Jr. did, he's been pretty vocal about being a fan of ND growing up in interviews.

For example below.

I will say, if you put his family and childhood support for the Irish to the side, as an STA player whose first visits planned are to Oregon, UF, FSU, LSU, we probably wouldn't expect him to be interested in the Irish

I don't necessarily agree with that. 3 or so years ago, maybe so. But I truly believe with the Irish offense evolving into a more wide-open attack with much more capable passing QB's, I can see some top-notch WR's buying in on the Irish. Especially after CJ constantly torches the opposing teams D this next fall.
