Golson wears #5, so that won't be happening and Carlisle is #3.
So Davonte is just lying about being 3?

Could also do what Michigan does, where they 'retire' the numbers, but have a tribute to whatever player wore it and had it retired on the current jersey. I think it is a pretty cool way of appreciating the old while allowing the new to pay homage to their favorites of old, while keeping all numbers available.

Maybe he is #3 and will only be doing returns and.....wait for it.....playing DB!!

Haha, I'm not calling anyone a liar, but when a number is taken I don't know how things get resolved. Could Carlisle switch numbers, ya, but as of right now Carlisle is listed as #3.
We have had a few recruits this year that seem to be confused on their number. Didn't Baratti get told he was going to be #4? Eilar is listed as having that.
Carlisle and Neal in a 40 yard dash. Winner gets the number of their choice.

I say we make it a 100 yarder.
I respect and agree with what you say. I am just saying what Davonte does with the ball in his hands is very hard to find and something we dont have on this team.
What's with the U$C logo? Did you lose a bet?
Davonte will be arriving on campus on june 9th---according to his father he is now up to 179 pounds.
His father when speaking with pete sampson referenced davonte being at ND for "three or four" years.
Sounds like ESPN's #8 player is coming in looking to have an immediate impact. His plan is clearly to do enough in three years to make it into the draft.---He is going to come in and try and make noise from the get go.
His Dad's attitude likely reflects Davonte's as well. It may be a little presumptuous, already planning for the NFL. but you have to like the ambition.--My hunch is Davonte is gonna be like having a TIGER BY THE TAIL!!
BTW--i believe he will be wearing #3!
aloha's go irish!
The Neal family spoke with recruiter Kerry Cooks and strength and conditioning coach Paul Longo on Monday, according to Luke, who added that his son was up to 177 pounds.
Still, the seemingly unprecedented spring switch of high schools appeared to throw into question Neal's path toward meeting Notre Dame's academic requirements.
I do like that too but I think the jerseys may end up looking NASCARs with all the badges. Say for example Jerseys #3, 5, 9, etc. would have like a billion badges.
I asked Amir two days ago if he was still #3. He said yes. Hmmmmm
Someone is getting moved to defense? Find that very hard to believe, but it's the only way both can rock #3.
Neal was apparently promised #3 to honor Floyd so Neal to D makes no sense
I think the Neal family is in error thinking he was promised 3
As much as I would much rather us have a deep secondary and have Neal tear it up on the O-side of the ball, I don't think it would be unrealistic to see him start off in the defensive backfield.
FWIW, Mike Frank says that Davonte absolutely will not start off on defense (I think based on what the staff told him during the recruiting process).
He will get first shot at offense.
I hope so. It's been a LONG time since ND had someone with his sort of offensive potential.
Golden Tate.....
