Remember a week ago when you said Huerman was an OSU lock? You don't get a raise for batting .500 ;)

Yes that was before they took that tight end out of Cali. 500 is still pretty good Lax. I am not batting as high as you yet but i am getting there my man.

Let me pose this question/scenario. If Montelus and Cochran want to commit. That would be 6 OL. I would have to agree that this might be a little out of balance for future years and recruiting. Clearly, the staff would have thought of this. Does anyone think any of the verballed OL or the 2 previously mentioned are being looked at as a DL or DE? This appears to be the only way that taking 6 OL in one class can bode well for the future.

We wont take 6 OL i promise you that. There are way to many needs on this team to take 6 O lineman. Cohrachn isn't good enough for be the 6 guy. We struggles to move in space and he is a huge human being. He is a Cal lock too.

Soooo, that's a no, none of the guys we have or are looking at might be thought to play DL? Haha. :waiting:

Sure, 6 OL sounds nice. But you run the risk of roster imbalance when you start taking more guys at a position than you can even play in a game. This isn't WR where you may line up 2-5 guys on any given play. It's pretty much 5 guys, period. It also isn't a position, where once the guys are in the game, they really sub out. Then add in the problems it can cause next year (and subsequent years) with recruiting. How many top OL guys are going to be interested in ND next year knowing they just took 6. And it's not like there's a huge number crunch at the OL position to mitigate why the staff should load up on them this year. Taking 4, 5 max OL is fine for this coming year.

Right, I didn't presume that we'd take 6. I'm only thinking that 5 is never a bad idea if the staff feels its right. I definitely agree with you on the need to avoid roster imbalance.

Like I said I would not be opposed to 6.
Is 6 realistic? Not at all. But it is a position of importance where you need experience to play with a high risk of injury.

Taking 6 OL would be equivalent of taking 6 LBs in one class... simply too much (and the LB has 4 truly unique positions while the OL has only 3 unique positions). It is just foolish to create such an imbalance at one type of position.

Besides, I dont think the OL has any higher of a chance of injury than many other positions.

What a disparity in Scout and 24/7s rankings. I'm assuming it's because 24/7 has him as an OT and scout an OG..

Either way, he'd be a solid addition to hopefully wrap up the OL and pave the way for Jaylon, Demarcus, Rochell and Huerman to start the avalanche.

It's only April, we still have 9 months, some of these kids might change their mind......I think you gotta keep recruiting the O-line, we didn't do well there last year.

Hah I'm just busting your balls, I said the same thing about Huerman before his Power Hour interview LOL

As for Montelus, everything out there right now STRONGLY alludes to him committing before he leaves campus. I always thought we'd get him if we pushed for him... and it looks like we're pushing for him.... so this will totally shut down the position.

In retrospect, would I trade Taylor Decker for any/all of these current commits? Absolutely. He was a downright worse prospect than 4/5 and comparable as a high-upside prospect to McGlinchey. I think our staff did an absolutely phenomenal job in recruiting this position.

Now on to CB and LB.

McGlincheys offer list is also much better but that's nitpicking.

anytime a OL prospect has an offer from Wisconsin i could care less how many stars he has. McGlinchey size and potential is what makes me really excited about this prospect!

If you look back in the whos likely next thread i said Montelus about two weeks ago. So if i am right again i want a contract raise otherwise i might pull a Van Pelt and leave for ND Nation.

If you did that you would be back within the hour or addicted to Prozac.

I think with my swag and flow i can bring ND Nation back to respectable. Rome wasn't built over night but i could damn well do it within a week.

With the current class of OL commits, he would be the OG of the class, so put more validity in scout's rankings. :p

Hearing that four-star OL John Montelus committed to Notre Dame today. Prospect still on campus, but would close Irish OL recruiting.
