If he's only the 46th best player in the country, then I'm Margaret Thatcher.

Seriously... it's like they didn't even look at his camp film or highlight reel. My goodness this ranking is off.

I don't know why you all are having sh*t fits about his ranking. Like I said above rivals has him at 34. Realistically who cares what is ranking is in the top 100.

Why is everyone attacking ESPN and not rivals? WTF

I agree with Sherm. We may all feel it deserves to be higher, but even if it does readjust throughout the year it isn't likely they are going to move him 20 spots or something. My guess is he will remain in the 30-40 range. Which is DAMN good.

Cause the ESPN ranking just came out today so they are fresh on our mind. Also, it's like asking why is everyone attacking OSU and not Ohio U.

lol +1... He will continue to climb in the rankings. This is the initial ESPN 150... Things will change, I could see him getting his 5th star by the final rankings.

but it doesnt matter, if he comes to ND, he will be a leader of the defense for multiple years. So stars only matter so much. Every ND fan should be ecstatic if he comes to ND, he is basically the next Manti Te'o.

Both the rankings are off considering this kid was called a "once in a decade" linebacker.

I doubt espn gives him a 5th star. They only had 6 plays as 5 stars in their initial rankings.

He could easily move up 20 spots throughout the year. Players all the time move up and down incredible amounts. Heck look at our very own Steve Elmer was just outside the top 10 in 247 now he dropped...what...50+..spots. He could easily rocket back up.

Also, I think our use to be very own Aaron Lynch was in the 30s-40s on ESPN before the final rankings. A complete domination at the Army AA game put him in the #15 slot.

With this kid and a lot of the kids ND is after we all know and have seen the tapes that these kids are damn good and will do awesome in college so I'm not getting into the rankings debate....yet. ;) Just right now I'm saying he could easily jump alot throughout the year.

I didn't say impossible. Just said unlikely. IMO if you are in the top 50 you are a damn, damn good football player and will compete for time immediately. It is a rare bird that jumps 20 spots after already being in the top 50. Trust me I would love to see those kinds of things happen for Jaylon, just not counting on it.

I think Jaylon is underrated by ESPN, but really recruiting rankings don't mean much in the grand scheme of things. The only significant way they impact recruiting is for kids to see how particular schools are attracting top talent, and even then it doesn't necessarily translate into on the field success, so it limits the usage to their year. Hell, Tyler Stockon (#31 Overall) was ranked higher by ESPN then Jaylon Smith is now. I don't need their rankings to know the kid is an absolute stud.

You serious, Clark? T Stock was ranked the 31st best player in the entire country by ESPN? Wow!

Keep in mind a player is rated at usually one position. Case and point the Armstead fiasco. Was rated #1 on offense, but wanted to play defense (or vice versa I don't really care) and dropped like a stone.

Jaylon asked where he should go to college and some popular basketball player chimed in:

@SkyDigg4: @JaeeSmiff9ENT Irish. Easy.

Also a certain linebacker chimed in:

@MTeo_5: @JaeeSmiff9ENT @skydigg4 you already know where u wanna be.
