That Philly really knows his stuff.

This is disappointing, but as always I'll try to look on the bright side. I don't know if it's prudent to take more than three corners this cycle, since we don't lose anyone after the 2012 season, and I really want to take a run at an elite guy like Priest Willis or Cole Luke. Now, with Kinlaw and Butler committed, we can go for that legit diamond without worrying about filling up on diamonds-in-the-rough or "steals."

I think that Florida being his childhood fav and he might not have had a commitable offer from ND played a big role in the decision.

ND is still sitting very good at CB in April. Long way to go and a lot of talent still offered.

Did not see this coming. Did he really not have a commitable offer from ND?

BTW this is what he said only a couple days ago "@JetLife_4 ND seems like they gone get me there"

And also interesting factoid, either there is an error on twitter or he also just deleted his account because he doesn't show up anymore for me.

Personally, I'm very VERY surprised unless he truly didn't have a commitable offer. Best of luck to him... verrrrry glad we got Butler now.

He was referring to ND fans getting him to 1000 followers on Twitter.

Still though, I'm surprised about this commitment. But, on to the next one.

Edit: He's not showing up on Twitter for me either.

I was pretty cocky about this one. Good call on FLA, Philly.

There will be plenty of DBs we get our hands on during the season though. I'm not worried.

Butler had a commitable but not Bell (Bell is rated higher on 247) ? Or did bell's become not commitable after Butler committed ?

Who do u think we look good for? Luke? barnwell? Willis?

1. Recruiting services are not the Notre Dame staff.

2. ND is going after specific physical builds of corners. Darby/Poole/Tee/Standifer were all bigger cbs. ND is trying to stay away from the smaller kids and that means they may go in different directions than the public eye would.

3. Staff gets paid to watch actual game tape of these high school kids. Not youtube or highlight videos. They see how they conduct themselves after a touchdown, missed tackle, missed blocking assignment, every positive and negative play. Not just the highlights.

4. Mr. Bell in my opinion is very talented and a great kid. Would have loved to have him, but at the sametime something just didn't add up and the quick verbal to Florida makes it a little stranger.

I don't think anyone knows that Bell didn't have a commitable offer. I think that's just speculation and I'm not sure what it's based on, unless it's the bolded (i.e., wanting to save space for top guys)

Last I heard, Luke is our best shot. Willis talks to Elliot and says he is interested in ND but seems more interested in other schools, jmo. I think the last time Barnwell was interviewed about his visit plans he didn't mention us, so that's not a good sign.

Is there a link to this story somewhere? I find this really shocking, i dont think he ever even mentioned Vanderbilt... I would think we would have at least gotten a second look. Though we probably said thanks but no thanks for a more elite CB

If he can do a flip by August perhaps he can accomplish a double by NSD, ala Gunner?

I wonder if ND would take Bell.. I'm very high on him but that's mainly because he goes to high school with a bunch of my friends

Sounds like UF dropped him to make room for Jalen Ramsey. Who is expected to decommit form USC within the next few days.

2013 CB Tre Bell winds up with Vanderbilt | ONLY GATORS Get Out Alive

Hints that he was dropped by UF. Stinks because he grew up a fan of UF. He found a good program in Vanderbilt. I dont think ND would have taken him.

The bigger issue for me in this, is that if Vanderbilt grows like Stanford, ND will face serious issues recruiting the south.

Think about what Vandy could potentially offer.

SEC and a great education. Best of both worlds.

They could have their pick of southern kids who are smart but don't want to leave south who ND may have swayed.

hopefully vandy stays mediocre cuz the sure are recruiting well for not having a great product on the field.
