Who cares who recruited Eifert? BK's offense turned him into an All American. Huge selling points.

I don't feel like looking it up, but did Meyer recruit Hernandez for sure?

Yes, Meyer came to UF in Dec 04, right before Weis took the ND job. Hernandez graduated HS in '07 and played for Meyer as a freshman that year.

WTF Mark Bavaro 1985 4th Giants! How could you leave him off the list?

Probably gross negligence (and too many dead brain cells or too many great ND TEs). I saw him play at ND and with the Giants. Great hands.

Mea culpa!

I fail to see the importance of this.

Point is that it doesn't matter which school, ND or OSU, historically has better tight ends since none of them, with the exception of Eifert, were products of Kelly's or UM's system. The correct TE sales pitch would be Eifert vs. Hernandez. Eifert has been great but Hernandez was a first team all-American and won the Mackey under UM and has been successful in his two NFL seasons. I love Eifert and think he's going to be great but right now Hernandez is the easier sell. Hopefully none of this matters and he picks ND because UM is a ****.

And a particular Varsity Club Member might be very angry at you for doing so.

Someone almost got neg repped...

**** wit da Cubs again. Do it.

Actually jk it said "See Red Sox Fans". I cleaned it up so as not to be too inflammatory. Cubs fans embrace ineptitude. The Swamp People think a World Series win every 100 years is a dynasty.

There's 10 months 'til NSD. Time for Heuerman to see the true light. (This is Heuerman's thread isn't it?)

Looks like Mr Crow was paying attention. Actually it's 2 WS victories in 90 years that defines a dynasty. And I agree, back to Mike H.

Yeah, it can get confusing. I kind of take this tweet as a minor step above non-news. It's good to see that the recruits want to hang out with each other (read want to play with each other at ND), but on the other hand, they are just tweeting pretty meaningless stuff here. He's still going to be a tough pull.

I hope we land this kid, but if not, I wonder if the coaches dust off the Brenneman campaign at that point or what.

Even if Notre Dame doesn't land his commitment (and I think it's 50/50), I'm not really worried about TE as much as others probably are. Koyack (who has some potential) and Niklas are both only sophomores. Even Eifert has another year of eligibility (although I'd say there's a 99% chance that he goes to the NFL as a 2nd round draftee). Alex Welch is a junior with 2012, 2013, and 2014 left in terms of eligibility.

So in 2014 Koyack, Niklas, and Welch can all still be at Notre Dame.

I want Heuerman, but I don't think missing on him, or any TE for that matter, is necessarily crucial to this team. Remember when Brenneman was a "can't miss" recruit?

Well said and I agree. I'm thinking more along the lines that we should get as many playmakers at TE as possible. Makes an offense so dangerous and versatile. Still, not a backbreaker if we don't land him.

We need more than 3 TEs, especially if we're running a lot of two TE sets.

I agree it's not crucial, but it would be nice to get somebody in the 2013 class. That way, when Welch, Niklas and Koyack graduate after the 2014 season, we have a junior ready to go in 2015. I'd prefer that to having to rely on an underclassman who may be underdeveloped, mentally or physically. Of course, if we get a guy like Niklas (aka Hercules) in 2014 it probably won't matter as much.

Mike may need it more than we do; see the new article on Urban Meyer and the broken nature of the Florida program. The punch line is his comment to the Diggs family about wanting to protect them from the moral decay in the Gator locker room!

The last two stud TE's: Kyle Rudolph, who broke out as a true freshman, and Tyler Eifert, who broke out as a redshirt freshman.

I'm willing to say that I think Niklas may be the best of the bunch overall though. Big, big statement but he is an absolute freak. Rudolph is a prototype, Eifert is an exceptional pass catcher, and Niklas is just a mammoth athlete.

Of course I mean, Heuerman will be the best (hoping he reads this and it sways him.. ;) )
