Pretty sure Archie still has Associate Athletic Director as part of his title, so if its ok for Smith to be on there, its ok for Griffin too.

Also, that video reeks of slimeball.

You are right, I was just down there for the state tourney and read something that had him with that paper title. Oh and the slimeball part too...lol.

Buster, this is just like the scene in the Wizard of Oz, where Toto pulls back the curtain and the Wizard shouts out, "Don't pay attention to the little man behind the curtain!"

The thing I still can't understand is that Gene Smith talked to him like he came from the hood. Both of his parents graduated from Mizzou and are doing well enough to put out 80k for their kids hs. education? And Smith tries to relate to him as being the first member of his family to graduate from college, all the while hiding that he graduated from ND, totally negating everything Archie had just said about the value of a scarlet and gray degree?

Gimme a fukkin break!

Portion of an interview an pOSU website did with Elliott. Of course UM told him that they were only taking 1 RB. Wonder what Elliot does when they keep recruiting Derrick Green and he commits. Definitely wouldn't be surprised if he flips when that happens. Kelly was honest and told the kid the truth that he was 50/50 RB or CB. UM does like he always does.
Catching Up with Ezekiel Elliott: Committed | Eleven Warriors

How did the coaches say they were going to use you at Ohio State? Did they tell you anything about recruiting other running backs in this class?

They said they would use me a little bit like they used Percy Harvin in the sense that I would be a guy who both runs the ball and catches some passes as a receiver. I do a lot of that in high school and I feel that is one of my strengths. As for other running backs, the staff told me they were planning on taking only one in our class, so I guess this could be it.

I just hope the staff got a copy of the video. They can probably make a compelling case just by ripping that thing apart.

What is that rap line? "I'm slick enough to twist your lines and send them back at you."

I know this is from Bleacher Report, but it looks like it's an actual interview with Elliott. It looks like he swallowed UM's speel hook line and sinker. I guess he's working hard on Anzalone. It also looks like he hung out with Perkins a lot which might not have done us any favors.
Inside Ohio State Football with Ezekiel Elliot | Bleacher Report

After a big recruiting weekend, the Buckeyes secured two commitments, one being St. Louis, Missouri running back Ezekiel Elliot.

Elliot is a speedy back who can also catch the ball out of the backfield—the exact type of back that Urban Meyer wants to have.

When Deveon Smith committed to UM, I really thought Urban was looking for a speed back with good hands to catch the ball. Elliot filled that role perfectly.

He took some time to answer a few questions.

MC: Many ND fans felt you were an Irish lock; what convinced you that Ohio State was the place for you?

EE: On my second visit to OSU, I was really impressed. ND is a great school, but after I researched the academics, met with the medical school, got to know a lot of people, I felt OSU was a good fit.

Meeting with professors in the medical college was important, but also I have strong relationships with Noah Spence, Armani Reeves and Cam Williams, and I spent a lot of time with them as well as David Perkins.

People sold me. Every school has good facilities, education, the difference is the people because these are people you spend the next four years with. OSU was a better fit for me.

MC: Have you talked to Brian Kelly? What did he say to you after you told him?

EE: I did not talk to Brian Kelly. I talked to coach Tont Alford and Bob Elliot, I told them. They were disappointed.

When I thought through this process, I did not want to waver. I want to keep my word; my OSU decision is final.

MC: What did Urban tell you your role would be?

EE: He wanted me as a Percy Harvin-type player. A player who can run and catch.

I watched him play at Florida and Vikings, honored to be compared to him. I could play wide receiver, but I am recruited as a running back. Our high school offense runs a little spread, pistol and pro style, but we mainly operate from the spread more than anything.

MC: They list your 40 time as 4.4, is that accurate? What is the fastest you have run the 40?

EE: Actually, my official time is closer to 4.47, but I hope to get faster.

MC: Alex Anzalone was with you on a few visits, do you think he will commit to OSU?

EE: I am good friends with him. He is going to the West Coast, and he may be back for the spring game. Hopefully, he will commit; I am working on recruiting him to be a Buckeye.

I am good friends with him and have been with him on college visits the last few weekends; he was with me on visit to ND, and I will work to get him. I think there is a good chance he commits, he liked OSU a lot.

MC: Were there any schools that tried to bad-mouth Urban Meyer and OSU?

EE: There were, but I am not going to go into detail. They were saying he may not keep his word, but I really do not want to discuss it. I believe in Urban Meyer. I believe he is a great man, and I would not be here if I did not believe in him.

I would not be surprised if we are in the national championship contention in the next couple years. I am proud to be a Buckeye.

I think Vegas has set the line at +5 on the number of recruits UM tells they compare to Percy Harvin.

The issue is how many he gets to commit, and then makes that promise the next week to someone else.

Has he gotten his Percy Harvin guy to commit yet? Elliot is the guy, does he have another?

he is being rcted as their running back, he clearly has wr skills. So while urbie may have used the Harvin line for a few ppl, he might actually be 1 to do it.
It would have been the same pitch from ND if Kelly wanted him on O with the whole new slot/rb thing. He clearly doesnt want to be a CB. With how thin CB is id rather Kelly actually rct players where that has been their defined position in high school.

If you think BK doesn't tell every recruit that he wants them to be like Marty Gilyard or whoever than your just naive. Its called recruiting...

That's a valid point, and I tend to agree with you. But I think Meyer's demonstrable pattern of lying to recruits is a valid reason for questioning the judgment of high school players who fall for Urban Meyer's recruiting methods.

I don't think Urban Meyer's "telling players what they want to hear" is worse than the norm on the recruiting trail for elite players.

Of course, Notre Dame is special in this regard too.

I know that every school recruits hard like this, and I don't care. Urban is a special kind of douche. I highly doubt that BK, even as the head coach of a private religious university, spouts off lies about God telling him to coach in order to grab a recruit.

Urban Liar. All that needs to be said.

What is UM pitch now? Can he still pitch the 1 RB and Harvin role as his go to?

I hate UM ways because he makes it work. I , don't ban me, actually like OSU because they do have a good team and with **** head UM running things, could knock off SEC. I hate the SEC more than I hate OSU. Still not a big fan though...

NOTE: My old roommate was and is a die hard OSU fan in all sports OSU but very respectful with ND and also understanding when **** might be shady at OSU. He actually said he won't mind OSU losing a lot more than USC did because he wanted them to be a real program. My wife also was approached by Archie because she shunned him at the airport because the BCS bowl game. (In a respectable way) He gave her his lapel pin and took a pic with her. He said she is a great ND fan and a wonderful lady. If you say those things to my lady, sorry but you get some of my respect.

Still wish UM to hell when it comes to the recruits we battle for...

1) No one is saying that guys like Archie Griffin at Ohio State are bad people. They are probably great people.

2) On hating the SEC more than Ohio State, and so wanting the Buckeyes to knock them off.....

Ohio State is the SEC,

at least for all intents and purposes with it's football/basketball program. Their standards are only slightly higher than the SEC's. It's a "win at all costs" mentality, where the players are mere mercenaries and the game functions as a minor league for the NFL. It's where the college President is concerned more about wins and losses than he is about arrests. It's where the program is run solely for the cashflow from the alumni and fans, not the pride of the university itself. It's where academic ethics and responsibilities are nonexistent.

Hating the SEC more than Ohio State? Ohio State is the SEC.
