Stoked about Amir! Does this move Davonte to the backfield or simply added playmakers?

Awesome news. Going to need one of his backfield mates to move to the secondary probably anyways. Cierre and Carlisle. Like the sound of that.

Absolutely awesome that we can field him this year.

Does show what pushovers the NCAA are though.

I think he gets 2nd most touches this season now. The Rbs are going to have a great spring competition.

With Amir coming, Tee going, I can envision a few changes in strategy. Wood/Amir at RB. Riddick/Attickson to slot, or at least splitting time at RB/slot. Neal at CB/PR/KR.

This couldn't have come at a better time...

I'm excited to see this kid on the field.

I had a day dream today that Amir wins a Heisman. How awesome would that be, especially after the transfer from USC.

This is huge having Golson, Wood, Carlisle, and Neal on the field at the same time has the potential to be so dynamic

Do you expect Wood and Carlisle to be on the field at the same time? I thought the feeling was that Wood and Carlisle are our two purest RBs and that both are unlikely to play much slot (not that I don't think they could be effective in the slot if put there). But you are one of the most well-informed fans on this board so I'll definitely believe it if you say you've heard different. Or did you just mean it's huge having them both available?

I expect them to be on the field together in certain situations.

I still don't understand where the hardship was in dad took a new job. Unless there is some other pressing factor (besides playing for Kiffin) that wasn't disclosed that justifies this, the NCAA has opened the door on "free agency".

Nick Saban is probably perusing the Mercedes Employment Openings in Vance right now, 'Hello Monster.com, I'm looking for a sophomore DL that has a father who is an automotive engineer or business executive who could transfer here ... A mom who fits those job titles or who is an administrative assistant, HR manager, or lunchroom staff will suffice ... just as long as the family has to relocate. I need someone to plug n play now!"

Yeah, this makes no sense unless there was more to it. There very well may have been.

Haha this is awesome, and yet so startlingly sad at the same time. I hate that we even have to worry about this. College football nowadays has become some weird semi-professional sport where the players are treated even more like products than the highly paid players in the NFL.

I'm hoping that there was something legit behind this, because although ND would never do it, I wouldn't put anything past the Meyers, Kiffins, and Sabans of the world to exploit any loophole they can. Any resemblance of integrity or ethics doesn't exist in big time college football anymore.

Great news! If we can't figure out a way to keep the other team from scoring, we'll be able to win the old fashioned way, we'll out score them.

There is a rumor that part of the appeal was due to recruiting violations at USC that Amir witnessed, but not sure what that means and how much weight it actually holds right now. However, I have serious doubts that the NCAA granted him eligibility ONLY because his dad moved...

You saying Amir was willing to give a testimony against USC for the ability to play now? lol That'd be crazy. Didn't know the NCAA was down for plea bargains.

personally think that his injury brought into focus how important the education really was....brought him back to the Irish to shore up that life after football.

He turned in his bag of cash and the key to the Playboy mansion. Now he is in the NCAA/ND witness protection program?

Probably has nothing to do with situation, but this is still a pretty funny story. One of my best friends sits next to Amir in one of his classes, and he was talking about his time at USC. He said how shocked he was by the fact that everyone went to class, especially that football players went to class at ND. Amir said that one of the days in the fall at SC the administration did a random check to see how many of the kids on the team were in class and on the particular random day they found that 7, yes a total of 7, kids signed into class that day. Haha
