Big East Title Game

Big East Title Game

Man.. If this is the squad that finally gets Brey to the Big East Title Game.... I will be more surprised than I have in all of my time watching ND sports. This squad after the Abro injury looked like they were going to be 14th-15th in the BE at Best(IMO). Glad I am eating crow..and this team continues to surprise with TEAM basketball

Also, is Cooley ill? serious question(seemed like Brey sat him a lot tonight) might have been because of the match up. But he just didn't look himself.

Would make sense if Cooley was ill. Tom Knight was far more effective then he was tonight.

File that under things I never thought I'd say about a Notre Dame win.

...

Don't know but he only played 33 of the 45 minutes .

4-9 from the field, 1-2 from the line, 1 Dreb, 1 Assist, 3 Blks, 1 Foul.

Atkins maintained the shoting woes he had against SJU and GT. Against USF he was 2-9 from the floor, 1-3 from the arc, and 1-4 from the line. He did add 4 rebs including one offensive, 6 assists, 2 steals, 1 block, while committing 2 TOs and 1 foul.

The Big East is a little down this year, but its still an impressive effort by ND. I'm not really a big ND basketball guy, but rallying after an injury reminds me a bit of what they did a couple years ago when Harangody went down.

Key player: Notre Dame had three players in double figures, but the biggest player of the night was Atkins. The sophomore guard averages 12.4 points per game, but had a goose egg for 40 minutes, and it's tough to stay in a game mentally when you haven't broken through on the scoreboard for that long. But he finally got his chance in overtime, and he delivered when it counted most. Atkins had six points in overtime, and also had six assists in the game.

From ESPN's write up about the game. So stupid.

I just watched the second half of the game (had to turn it off and go to bed at halftime because of an early start time today) and honestly.... WTF was with that officiating? I seriously think if the refs had called that game tight South Florida would've picked up 15+ fouls in the second half. I won't say they necessarily called a bad game... they just refused to call a lot of obvious body contact fouls. Cooley getting full on molested on that "jump ball" was outrageous.

It seems every time we play in MSG our players get mauled on the court (usually by St. John's) and the refs hold their whistle. I don't get it. I expect Louisville to press and try similar "athletic" crap tonight and probably beat us.
