Phil Steele Odds on the BCS Champ

We are 20-1, huzzah!

Odds To Win 2012-13 BCS National Championship!

It's NOT Phil Steele's Odds but Las Vegas Odds. Steele's got a clear disclaimer in the first paragraph"

... A couple of weeks ago, several casinos released their odds for the 2012-13 BCS National Championship. While PhilSteele.com does not affiliate itself with gambling, I do think it is interesting to see how Vegas is examining the upcoming season.

Just goes to show you what Vegas thinks of ND bettors to install those odds when the Starting QB is open, Starting WRs open, 1 Starting OL open, a LB or 2 yet to be determined, a pair of CBs to step up, host of others competing for the 2 Deep.

Then throw in ND's schedule where ONLY 9 Opponents made the list:
#2 USC is 5-1
#4 OU is 10-1
#10 UM is 22-1
#18T MSU is 75-1
#18T SU is 75-1
#23 PITT is 100-1
#26T BYU is 125-1
#26T MIA is 125-1
#30 BC is 150-1

Time to bet the ranch as The Belcher Report knows ND can win every game.

Phil Steele always has us overrated. I don't pay much attention to this guy even though he is an ok analyst. But he has us being a good team every year.

If you had read BGIF's post above yours, you would have realized that this is him passing along Vegas's odds, not providing analysis.

Thank you, BGIF, for shining light when others don't even read.

To support our main man: it is amazing that some long time sports followers do not realize that Las Vegas is not into the sports analysis business but the "how do we set odds which will split the gamblers?" business. Their odds therefore are always part actual team quality and part fan fanaticism. BGIF is correct again to note that once again Las Vegas believes that ND gamblers are pretty delusional. It is one thing to have hopefulness; it is another to throw money at as yet unsupported hope.

AND, Phil Steele overrates us yes; at least he scratches his head and admits it every year. What he does [typically] is rate us as a great or near great team, when, in fact, we turn out to be "merely" a good team. 8-5 vs a very respectable schedule is a GOOD team --- shove the hating on that where the Sun don't shine.

How ND has better odds than UM is beyond me. Our schedule is tougher than ours, and there's no reason to think we will be a better team than them this year.

What, we have been the better team the last two years... we should be a 10 point favorite against Michigan this year...

I sincerely hope the Bama crushes the soul and spirit from those lucky bastards.

I want UM to have a demoralizing, embarrassing opening week loss

I can't think of any scenario where this doesn't happen. I would bet the farm that scUM loses by double digits.

Haha this is hilarious. I seriously hate the SEC. It's kind of difficult to imagine them balancing a serious course load during football season, or any part of the year for that matter. But I'm sure ESPN will try to convince us otherwise.

The conference is just a football factory. Hard to consider them even a member of the Collegiate part of the NCAA. What a joke.
