With Angelo gone, I fully expect a more competent approach to drafting players, I.E. NOT passing on Floyd if available. I'm not interested in another OL that will be hurt all year like the last 2.

Good point, maybe this will be the year we address a need instead of picking a olineman from Baylor.

I am torn on Floyd, I want the best for him, and that would be to get picked high and to a team he can do well on. But the other side of me just wants him to be a Bear. The Bears need a receiver like Floyd badly, he would get to stay close to home, and I could revel in having one of the great ND men on my favorite NFL squad. Everyone wins.

Agree 100%. I'm a huge Bears fan, and the one thing that has been sorely lacking (well really just another thing amongst the many) during the Jerry Angelo tenure has been a playmaking, physical, true #1 receiver. Mike Floyd blew people away at the combine. He proves that he has the speed to go along with the physical capabilities to be that guy for the Bears. Only problem now is making sure he's still there.

For me though, I feel that watching Floyd on the field gives you more of an idea of just how he could end up being a #1 in the NFL. He was THE major offensive factor for this team for the past two years. Going into every game, the defensive gameplan would focus on him, and he still rose above that to be an elite receiver. Can any of the other receivers in the draft outside of Blackmon say that? Give me Mike any day.

I also think this speaks to the abilities of the strength and conditioning staff at ND under Kelly, and the revolution from where it was under Charlie. For once, an ND player has seemingly gone into the draft/combine process and improved his stock, and I feel that this is in no small part to the development he received in the latter part of his career under Kelly and the staff. This will only help in marketing the skill positions, needed every year, to prospective recruits as well. Love it.

Honestly guys I really think the 49ers need to pull a Falcons Julio Jones trade. The 49ers need to move up about 15 spots and draft Floyd.

BobD what do you think about that?

Couldnt agree and it would also be nice to have a WR that is over 6'1" (Knox) and thats not a former DB (Hester) or a washed up never was (Williams). I would crap myself if he is a Bear!

I would be more than content with Kendall Wright, but Floyd is on the top of my wish list.

I like Wright and all, but the Bears absolutely do not need another 5'10" receiver. Where would he even play? Would we rock a three WR set of Wright, Hester and Knox? We need a big target that not only will provide physical downfield blocking, but also a legitimate redzone target.

Remember the last time Cutler had a big, physical receiver (Marshall)?

Frankly, If Floyd is off of the board we should trade down, because after Floyd there isn't first round value. The reality is that in my opinion, there isn't much more value in Wright then a guy like Jordan White (WMU). You can get White in rounds 4-6.

I keep having a recurring nightmare where the Patsies end up drafting Floyd.

I wake up in a cold sweat.

Bears don't have a good QB to pass to Floyd, all they have is Forte

Coming from a guy that conveniently didn't get his favorite NFL logo for his profile...

He led us to an NFC Championship game and our team is complete garbage without him. How many times have you even seen Cutler play since he left Denver? It's not like they are streaming Chitown sports in Cali.

You're lucky I like you calvegas...

Amen. I never miss a Bears game. Jay Cutler was the FARTHEST thing from the problem last year. It's kinda hard for a QB to succeed without an offensive line or a legit # 1 receiver. Mike Floyd, come on down. Hope he didn't just skyrocket his way out of Chicago - it's not like the Bears would ever DARE of moving up to take a skill player.

I felt so bad for Cutler last year. He was playing amazing with such a crappy offense, the doubters were finally warming up to him and buying-in, the team was the hottest in the NFL, then, as Madden would say, BLAM! All gone.....

*As far as moving up, I plan on holding a sign that says "Wake Me Up When Virginia McCaskey is Dead" at the next game I go to. That family can make Bill Wirtz look reckless with his spending sometimes. Before the Cutler trade and Peppers signing, you really have to go back a long, long way to find an instance where they opened their checkbook for a marquee player. There's a reason Forbes Magazine called the Bears "The Most Mismanaged and Mis-marketed Professional Sports Team."

Couldn't agree more, but even when Virginia dies, one of her idiot sons will just step into that role anyways like they've permeated management already. I don't know how the new one, George, is going to do as he only has like a year on the job. But the family sat around last year with millions of cap space, fresh off an NFC Championship run, and just looked woefully unprepared for free agency and the trade market once the lockout ended.

I think they took a giant step forward by firing Jerry Angelo. Now we'll truly see if they value going after pieces for the team THAT WOULD ACTUALLY HELP THEM WIN!! Sign a marquee skill player free agent. Draft one in the first round. PAY FORTE. It's like this team hasn't been run by common sense for ages.

He just ran a 4.42 at the combine. He may be working his way into the top 15 picks. Sucks for me, I want the Browns to get him but he won't be there at 22.

Damn it, A Pac! As much as I still love the Browns deep down, don't curse Floyd with a spot on that team. He deserves better

@nfldraftscout: Working the phones this morning & there are now at least 3 teams that have Michael Floyd as top WR in draft.

Just saw that Rob Rang's mock draft has Floyd to the Seahawks at #12. I would literally vomit all over myself if Petey had Tate and Floyd.

Michael Floyd, WR, Notre Dame: Many expect the Seahawks to consider a quarterback to compete with incumbent starter Tarvaris Jackson with this selection but in beating the New York Giants and Baltimore Ravens last year and matching up well with division champion San Francisco, the club may not be willing to reach to fill a perceived need. Don't be surprised if Seattle instead turns their attention to other areas of concern like receiver or defensive line. With Sidney Rice's durability a concern, Seattle might be hard-pressed to let Floyd slip by, especially after he erased any concerns about his speed with a 4.47 showing at 6-3, 220 pounds.
