It's not as if he told them he'd come and announce there, but snubbed them and announced on ESPN when he got a better offer from them. The kid couldn't decide. It's like a man or woman who stiffs his/her betrothed at the altar, only way less important -- sure, people are a little teed off, but better that than making a wrong decision because he doesn't want to "let down the crowd."

wow, so basically what you are saying is that it is ok for a man to leave his fiance at the alter for an average woman, but if the other woman is hot, it is ok to give him a negative reaction... I am sorry, but you have nothing to back you up in this. The kid made a VERY poor move, period...

Hoping since he was calling all the coaches down to the last one, his school of choice, that one just got in his head a bit during the call and BK woulda been the last one dialed. It'll all clear up after a family discussion and he will still be Irish.

Well, look, I understand people being annoyed or irritated about the no-show, but turning an 18 year old who is struggling with an important decision into what's emblematic of everything that's wrong in American society, like World Famous Craig Morton tried to do, is laughable.

This honestly is the least surprising thing I've seen this year. Having dealt with this family, would have been shocked if it was done right

This situation absolutely spotlights what's wrong with recruiting. If he needed this much time he could have taken it, figured out what he wanted to do, called the coach and notified the local media or something. Instead of this circus...

so its ok by you then for the reporter to say that no kids there should want to be like Davonte?

The school was using this as an opportunity to teach the kids that if you study hard and work hard you'll have a chance to have all the top schools in the country beg you to come there.
Davonte and his family set this whole thing up the school allowed it including allowing all those kids to be pulled out of class for this. The 18 year old had a responsibility to those kids who were being told that Davonte was just like them to show up and say at a minimum "This is a tough choice for me I'm sorry for taking time out of your day like this, but I can't decide." Instead of no showing like he did and keeping all those people waiting for an hour.

I doubt any elementary school ever does this again.

lol you may be right.. unless the recruit has the character of a Tim Tebow or something.. seems to be a PR nightmare.. however, someone reported a family emergency, so I will hold off opinions until that is settled.. hope everything is OK

What I'm basically saying is, it's better for a person to make the right decision, even if it means some annoyance or inconvenience for others, than it is to make the wrong decision out of obligation or pride. I don't know where you get the "average woman/hot woman" thing. I'm not making a qualitative assessment at all. I'd rather my son get stood up at the altar than have a woman who decides she doesn't love him, marry him anyway, and then make him miserable, because she doesn't want to call off the wedding and inconvenience everybody who drove all the way from Coshocton for the wedding.

Funny thing, everyone on here will praise him for taking his time if he ends up picking ND and saying that if he decided today, it would have been UA, lol.

I keep trying to think of something witty to say but I got nothing.

This is just pure ridiculousness.

I don't think so.. I know I won't. Sure, I'd like the kid to play for ND if he wants but this has taken the shine off it for me.

This whole thing is like an episode of Lost. Only without Kate's brilliant pooper prancing around to keep things interesting.

I don't disagree with that. I'm just saying, given that it had gotten to this point, better to call it off if he's not sure, even if people are incovenienced. These grade school kids will forget this by tomorrow morning. Neal has to live with his decision.
