From reading many articles in the Arizona news related web sites, most of them contain very negative comments concerning Davonte and his Dad. For whatever reason, they seem to be despised by many in the area.

Yup. People in Arizona feel as though Davonte is a prima donna and believe his dad mettles far too much in other coaches affairs. During the Bishop Gorman game chat, for Davonte's school, not many people had nice things to say about him.

Sour grapes by ASU and U of A fans.

When there's a serious academic institution or a real football team in this state, then they might have something to b!tch about.

Buckeye fans are claiming the same thing about him and his father saying "we are better off without that drama"..

They also claim Luke Neal was demanding all sorts of coaching hires with ASU and Zona..

I continue to wait to see what I've heard posted, but still nothing. Weird.

I don't think people like the business manner in which the Neal's are doing things. I wouldn't doubt if there's been some bargaining, but if anyone thinks this is new, it's not.

Food for thought:

Everyone seems to think Neal could step in and be our slot guy from day one. However, don't count it out that BK moves him to the outside. Mardy Gilyard at UC was only 5'10'' (or 5'11'' depending on where you get your info) but played on the outside as a no.1 and was probably the best receiver UC has ever seen. If the guy has the speed to burn down the sideline and isn't afraid of putting his body on the line for a few jump balls, BK will put him on the outside if other options work in the slot. You get the feeling Neal can be a better no.1 option than some of the other guys in his class, despite his "slot player" type size.

All of this is assuming, of course, that he doesn't play CB full time.

First of all, quality posting from you newbert. Stick around, will ya.

Second, I seem to remember Neal lining up on the outside a few times during the all star game. So I think that there would be some familiarity there for him. Especially if we don't have one of our taller receivers break out.

I think that throwing him in at CB situationally would be a really good move too. Losing Darby makes this more of a reality as well.

It is pretty clear to me now after only a couple weeks of following ND recruiting that ESPN does not like Notre Dame for some reason... Never have I seen such blatant bias against a team...

I hope they all get a bad case of gout! I hate them!

(I would never wish any serious injury/problems on anyone. But gout is a real bitch!)

Nothing would be better than to have Neal sign with ND, then shove it right back in ESPN's face.

I would love to see Neal commit to ND for many reasons and one of those is to stick it to ESPN who had him #9 in their final overall rankings, and now that recruiting is over they cant downgrade him and would have to give the Irish credit for landing the kid. I find it hilarious that they are still pushing Neal as an OSU lean to their buddy Urb even though they were eliminated from the process not long after signing day.

Man I hope Neal picks ND. I think if he does he will push TJ Jones to start immediately opposite Daniels and make an instant impact in the kick return game. Notre Dame needs what he brings to the table offensively as a playmaker. T-minus 10 days until we all know.

Best/most infuriating part of the video: The guy didn't even give any particular reason why he thought Notre Dame was the least likely place Neal would sign. He sort of mentioned Justin Ferguson (as competition?). Made some vague reference like "every school would love to have an athlete like Neal." (as in, ND's nothing special?) Said "Gunner Kiel" three times. (is that a contractual requirement?). Then on to OSU.

Even if he'd said "First visit. Kelly's been in-home. Neal would have committed there by now if he was going to," at least there would have been a rationale. The best I could come up with is that this guy thinks Neal's such a pure athlete that he'd never go to a stodgy old school like Notre Dame. Tell that to Tre.

Anyway. This continues to seem wide open.

Agree with most of this except that I would be more excited about seeing Neal in the Slot position. He could also be a tremendous corner back. I doubt we will see him play both ways, but he has the ability to do it.
