Urban called Decker first. Read the old premium articles. At first he was gauging deckers interest. Decker might have called him back, but Urban made first contact. In other words, Meyer is lying. Shocking.

Guys, guys. What BGIF said was it is only illegal to hire somebody. He never brought up anything about using a third party to gain admission. So, everybody could be right, and everybody (except me) could be wrong!

Note: I almost wrote whore, or hore, instead of hire, Freudian slip that.

tO$U's compliance department monitors their head football coach pretty closely and would never allow UM to do anything even remotely questionable... it's not in his character anyways!

I know. I should have used sarcasm font. That is what I was getting at. Decker said a month ago that Meyer called and Decker said no thanks. Now Meyer says Decker called him first.

Personally, I think this comes down to the
Big10 commish, I think he needs to work with the rest of the big10 to determine that they do not want to be run like the SEC. I think the 4 year schollie ends a lot of this... I think if it gets passed in the Big 10 that is will only be 1-2 years from passing in the Pac12, Big12, Big East, at that point, the ACC will hop on board, leaving the SEC to have no choice but to jump on board. If Delaney is as powerful as he seems, it would be great to see this ruled added to the 4+1 playoff that the BCS is now pushing. Everyone know that over-signing is wrong - the conference commissioners need to put the heat on the SEC!!!

This shouldn't surprise anyone. He did say that he would run his program SEC style...

Fair advice.

Only Decker will know if she has the "it" factor.

Otherwise the buffet is definitely the way to go.

Best of luck to the kid.

Sour grapes or not, Decker has the mean streak to do much ill-harm.

He's Urban's now, but if he keeps his marks up, and misses his first decision, I'd be happy to see him come back to ND.

@KyleRowland: Meyer gushed about Taylor Decker. Only been on campus for 3 days, but is already on the 2-deep on the OLine.

Huh? Taylor Decker was an EE? Since when? Is there a quarter system at Ohio State and easy requirements to meet?

And LMFAO since when was being on the 2 deep any kind of accomplishment?

Part of Urbie's deal. Even if he switched and sucked, Urbie would still praise him to keep ND Nation off his back.

I'm sorry but gushing over a freshman after 3 days is weak sauce.

If a just-on-campus freshman is really immediately on the two-deep O-Line, OSU is in serious depletion on the offensive line.

I instead wouldn't put it past Meyer to float a comment out there like this for psychological recruiting reasons: claiming to O-Linemen [and others] that this proves how available playing time is at the moment. This of course would mean that he is deliberately playing games with their heads, and the truth.

My boss said they have serious OL issues in Columbus.....would not br too surprised to see him on the 2-deep at this point, however, I wouldn't make too much of it either. Conner Hanratty was, at some point on the 2-deep last year, and I don't believe he played a down, did he?

He did not play. 4 years of eligibility remain.

guys...we messed up not holding on to this one.

gonna be good.

Decker left on his own accord to go to his childhood favorite. His position and Ohio recruiters both left. His position coach was pissed that he wasn't given the OC job, so he bitched and moaned about it. He stayed in-state and committed to Urban Meyer in his first year. To imply that the staff "messed up" this recruitment is, frankly, pretty stupid.

Ohio State's OL situation is very rough, just a few years removed from one of the best OL hauls in recruiting history too.

It's not as bad as Notre Dame's immediately after Willingham got canned, but it's pretty bad. They asked a kid I beat 3-1 and 9-0 in wrestling (as I weighed 225 in 285 weight class) to be a preferred walk-on because depth is so weak. Just knowing that I could be a body bag for OSU means they are having some serious issues.

And yeah the quarters at Ohio State ends this year, Meyer said he loved it because he could get guys enrolled. Too bad for him haha

Decker blocks people with bad intentions. Some aim for pancakes: Decker aims for making craters out of the DL.

As TT stated, he was always OSUs to lose. And they almost did.

Urbie still hadn't patched up the holes around the state though. We have historically done well in the ****eye state and that will remain...

Just ask Zaire.

;)

Zaire and Matuska, and a fair chance Notre Dame picks up more buckeyes. Not too bad.
