I don't know why fans wish him well. I think the worst thing you can do is switch teams on NSD. I don't wish him well at all. I hope he ends up on a bad Houston team and never amounts to anything and he ends up working in a car wash in Houston some day.

I love it. Worst decision he ever made in his life.

I don't get this hate for the Houston coach. Isn't he doing his job and convincing a kid to come to the school? Did he lie to him about something? Seriously, I don't get it.

Obviously I'm not privy to the conversation between Deontay and Christian, but I know one thing and its all anyone really needs to know: Deontay going to Houston is only good for one person - Christian. So the specifics of the conversations between the two are kind of irrelevant. An adult took advantage of a kid's trust to the adult's benefit and the kid's detriment.

Of course a coach is supposed to try to get the best talent for his team, but because almost all coaches are doing that at arm's length, it tends to shake out so that kids end up where they belong. Its like market efficiency. In this case, it wasn't arm's length. The coach has a non-football personal relationship with Deontay. That fostered a trust uncommon between a coach and a player, thereby diminishing the player's ability to filter out the BS from the coach. If the coach cared about Deontay at all as a person, he would be at Notre Dame, not Houston. Therefore, I believe that the coach took advantage of the kid and is therefore a dirtbag.

To heck with all of this. This has nothing to do with the kid.

This is on coach. You don't sign a class of 16 and say that you are doing a great job as the Head Football Coach at the University of Notre Dame. USC is on probation, not us! How do you allow this to happen to your program on NSD? Unreal.

I think I read the entire article and not one person mentioned what I believe must have happened. Some booster at UH really liked Greenberry, saw what he did during the season in California and busted out the checkbook. Anybody who thinks the majority of big name schools don't give their players perks is out of their mind. They lost their coach, lost their quarterback and in order to stay relevant with their fan base something had to be done. They're breaking bread for Deontay and this is one if I was an NCAA investiagtor I would keep an eye on...

Water seeks its own level. If he's not smart enough to see the difference between these two schools then he probably wasn't smart enough to be an ND student.

I think Deontay is probably the best WR prospect in this class still, even though he didn't pick ND. I feel like he wants to be the big fish in a small pond. ****ing shame.

You don't get paid 3+ million a year to try. You don't get hired HC at Notre Dame to try. You get paid to produce. Period. Kelly has made a whole lot of blunders but the fact is, really, that even if he had made none, Notre Dame would not be now nor will never be a top program again.

I cringe at some of the criticism of the coach from ND fans, because I think most of it is mindless and simplistic. But in this case, I do agree that they are responsible for ending up with a 16-person class. It is Willingham-esque in quantity, if not quality. The decisions not to pursue Schutt, Rios and Ekanem look particularly silly.

The next 365 days are going to be huge for this staff and this program. Absolutely HAVE TO improve on the football field and back that up with a 25-man class that ranks against any class in the country. Otherwise 2011 season/2012 recruiting class will be looked back upon as a "Turning Point" for the program, but not in a good way.

We are dangerously close to squandering any momentum we may have gained in 2010.

I agree. Unfortunately, we may be starting a thread about this time next year talking about who we think the next head coach at ND will be. Unless we have a big winning season in 2012 I don't see recruiting improving next year. If that is the case, I don't see Kelly lasting more than two more years.

Hey, it's another open spot for the 2013 cycle! It's going to be an awesome class.

Greenberry was the one that was saying he was going to ND no matter what Tee decided when Tee was flirting with USC. Houston? Houston? Hello.

So you are defaming DG claiming he must have taken money???? I don't like DG's choice, but to claim he was bought is crossing a big line.

I heard he threw a dart at a map of the US. That explains it. Houston?

From Houston's Signing Day Live Blog:

Q: Coach Christian- Welcome and congratulations! How did you sell Deontay on coming to UH?

A: "The one thing was our relationship. I recruited him at Arizona State. When I came here, Coach Levine did a great job of explaining our passing system. He really liked our players, he saw the value of a degree from Houston and know he could get better. To be honest, Houston really sold itself. There are some GREAT things going on here. UH has created some great momentum over the last year or two."

I'm physically ill.

Right, and Darby, Anghlor, Decker...I can keep going. Don't rest your laurels on what you accomplished last year.

A. Amir is this year.
B. So are Tee, Gunner, and a host of other recruits.
C. Decker followed his position coach and stayed in his home state.
D. That said, this one stings.
