This is a terrible financial decision on his part. In 2008 the average guaranteed money for a third round pick was $668,000.00. He can get insurance for next year that will pay more than that, and drastically improve his draft stock if he stays healthy and come out in a class with fewer big name receivers.

His best case scenario is to end up in St. Louis in the second round (which would be 45th overall or so). That would give him a great young QB, but I suspect they are going to take a receiver in the first round.

He does not want to end up like Golden Tate, who is not looking good for having a productive NFL career.

If this is accurate it is a big mistake.

Oh my God what is with you???? First Clausen and now Tate? Jesus are you a funeral director or something? Don't come back with you said its not looking good but not definitive or whatever. Your posts about these players are downright morbid.

I could see if he was worried about whether or not Crist would be back, but Rees showed he was fully capable of getting him the ball. If anything he should have had 2 more TD's for Rees in the Bowl Game--well at least 1.

But anyway, while Floyd is a baller, I am excited for the next young WR reciever to step up. I think it keeps everything fresh.

Actually, on 2nd thought-- Please stay.

Truth. It's real a risk/benefit kind of thing. I sure as hell hope the Redskins are lucky enough to snag Floyd in the 3rd round.

As a Redskins fan, I would like to see them get Floyd as well, but they lost their 3rd round pick with the McNabb trade, so it wouldn't be in the 3rd round.

Yeah, there's plenty of time for someone else to step up.... in 2012.

Floyd would be a much bigger loss than Rudolph, I won't believe that it's true until he makes an official announcement.

IF he leaves, I will only be happy if it results in my hearing the following, often:
"Roethlisberger to Floyd.............
TOUCHDOWN!!!"

Well how many of us would turn down our dream job making tons of money, being able to take care of our mother financially, and take the next step in our life test? I know I have left jobs for better jobs and pay was a huge motivating factor.

I hope Mike stays if those that know more than I say that he might go on the second day. However, if I had the opportunity to even be the last person picked on day one, I would do it.
He has proven that he will do what it takes to suceed in life with the path he has already taken. I would be willing to bet that he finishes his requirements for his degree. As a fan, man oh man I want him to stay, but not at the expense of holding him back. I know that some, probably a lot, of you will say that his coming back will not hold him back but only prolong it for a year. I say that there are so many what if's in life. Anything could happen. None of us would take that risk with our career.

Good luck Mike, whether its playing for ND or in the NFL. You are Irish forever!

Of course I would like him to stay. And there may be lots of scenarios that say he should stay. But another thing to think about, he has had a few injuries while at ND. What if he comes back, and is injured again? His stock could drop, what if he gets a stigma as a injury-prone player? (that can be have a negative impact on his draft status as well) I think good arguments can be made for him to stay, and good arguments can be made for him to go.

last week I thought he was staying, now I am not so sure.

I pray that he stays but understand if he doesn't. He definately is a MUCH BIGGER LOSS than Rudy. That is why I hope he stays. Plus I think he could have a monster year next year and really up his draft stock. But again, I understand if he decides to go. He has easily been my favorite player of the decade, next to the two great years Shark had.

Guys,
Whatever Michael Floyd decides every single person in here should be thanking him for coming to ND and playing his heart out for 3 years. He has been 110% Irish for his entire career.

If he decides to go to the NFL, we should all wish him the best and hope he goes to a good team where he can be appreciated.

If he decides to stay at ND for one more season, we will welcome him back and cheer with passion for him.

In the end, THANK YOU MICHAEL!!! We thank you for coming to ND and sharing your skills with all of us. You will forever be part of the IRISH family!!

Tate, Clausen, Rudolph, Floyd? It's good that we are getting players of their caliber, but I hate seeing the recent trend here of leaving early. Best of luck to MF if he goes, it was fun while it lasted!

could be worse, it could be like basketball where you get one year. At least we got 3 out of MMF. I wish him the best, although I wish he was coming back

"mccoy looks... looks... throws.. CAUGHT BY FLOYD!! TOUCHDOWN! THE BROWNS BEAT THE STEELERS AND ARE HEADED TO THE SUPER BOWL!"

while i'm at it, i'd like a pony.

HOLD THE PRESSES...........

According to Keith Arnold at NBC reports that MMF is still in MN and is meeting with Brian Kelly Tuesday afternoon. Also reports that according to two sources MMF is still undecided. I am not sure who is sources are, but between the fact that he must have some good ND connections through NBC and the fact that he went to the same highschool as MMF, they should be good.

however great these guys were during their tenure on the field and as ambassadors for ND then, now and into the future...one thing that might need to be brought up is they were all weis' guys. and weis obviously had the "me first" type of players that kelly has had to deconstruct since day one.
i love seeing domers playing on sunday. i dont fault these guys and wish them nothing but continued success.
of course seeing them run out of the tunnel with their gold helmets shining in the sun is preferable.

I would love them to get Michael as well, but it won't be in the third; they don't have one...would have to get him in the high second unless they trade down.

Seriously? Where the **** do our draft picks go every year? I thought we traded a 2nd rounder for McNabb? Sigh... I'm so out of it... what picks DO we have?

Floyd just tweeted "Back to the Bend".. I'd love to extract out of that and say it means more than that he's just literally flying back to SB.. ha. Well the meeting must be over.. announcement soon?

Look I really really want him to stay. But by chance he decides to go it should be to my Detroit Lions. Remember we love drafting WRs. Most of which have failed to succeed. Imaging a healthy Stafford under center, Floyd split wide right, Megatron split wide left, Best flexing in/out of the backfield. Suh holding together the entire D. Man we would actually become legit.

i usually don't like reading too much into twitter, but if he posted that two hours ago, which would be after his meeting, for which he would already be in SB, don't you think that could actually be his way of saying he's staying?

just my 2 cents

This has got to be tough on him. I think he was pretty seriously leaning toward the NFL and the NFL report kind of set him back. Once you kind of have your mind set it's pretty hard to step back and change direction, is for me anyway.

He'll do what's best for him. Lot's of roads to consider to find the end.
