Huh
I think Standifer is the next commit. And you whiny bitches should get a room. Or get some boxing gloves and get in the ring.
Do you want DaVaris kicked off of the team? Because on his site (I forgot what it was called, pretty much twitter) he used tons of profane language, quoted obscene rap lyrics and objectified women. Put your money where your mouth is... DO YOU WANT HIM KICKED OFF OF THE TEAM?
There is a difference between a student who is already part of the program and one who is a prospective player. I think that once a player has become part of the team, it is the coach's responsibility to educate that player and, yes give him the opportunity to correct mistakes. A kid who is not yet on the team is another thing altogether and the coaches would be foolish not to be careful about these sort of things. You may be correct about Devaris' posts, but as far as I know those were posts from a year or more ago. I have not heard anything like this about him recently. Going back to what the kid did in high after he has been at ND for more than a semester is not the same as having misgivings about another potential recruit today.
It's deleted now, but he didn't have "thousands" of followers. I believe he had around 1,000. Most of which, were fans.
1,600 was the number I saw in the article from a Rutgers source.
You dont know the first damn thing about this kid. He was attending one of the best private catholic schools in the country. He was getting good grades and staying out of trouble. But he didn't get there because his parents were rich, white and well connected. He got there because he used his athletic skills to achieve the highest level of achievement he could. He is a poor, black kid with zero parental support. He is scratching for every inch to achieve the American dream while people like you and I get to actually live it. So yeah... most of us are well educated, but you are the one that has no idea how hard that can be to achieve.
Since Yuri's thread has been closed twice for these kind of discussions, and we've totally hijacked a really good thread, can we just sleep on it tonight? We'll know how it all shakes it in a few days.
Don't mean to sound bossy....
True, but do you know any more about him? ie. the "zero parental support" and "scratching hard..." Maybe you do know these things, I don't know. But you demand sources from others, where do you acquire your knowledge abut Yuri?
I was attacked as a "racist" yesterday because I said if the kid adopts a "gangsta" persona in personal interviews with coaches after all of the controversy, then we should walk away. How is that racist? I have seen interviews with Yuri Wright and quite clearly he has the ability to present himself in a respectful and serious manner. IF that were to change and he were to act in a disrespectful manner (and yes the gangsta persona would be extremely disrespectful in that context) it would be a signal that this kid is a problem. However that is a big IF. I don't know that much about Yuri, I admit that, but from what I do know, I suspect he is more naive than anything else. If all of our contact with him has been positive and if the coaches feel that he will learn by this experience, then ND should welcome him in. But the coaches must check into this and ascertain whether this is a sign of bigger problems, problems that could blow up in the university's face.
Other universities will take street thugs and criminals...compared to them Yuri Wright is a model citizen. But I would hope that Notre Dame never stoops to that level. You are correct, we do not know Yuri and I am in no position to judge him. His actions could very well be the mistakes of a 17 year old kid who needs to learn a few lessons and the tweets may well seem much worse than they really are. But the staff should (and will) look into this issue carefully and hopefully make a decision which benefits the program.
mr7183 - This argument isn't going there. Reasonable minds can read both of our posts and decide who is being the elitist ahole and who is rational.
It's funny that you think DaVaris is good because he is on the team, but because Yuri is not, he should lose his opportunity. I'm guessing you will be cooler than a fan when he is making game winning picks.. unless of course, he isn't making them for Notre Dame.
I might not know what you had to do with your education, but I promise you that your middle-aged, white @ss hasn't had to endure a 1/3rd of what Yuri has.
That's all I have to say about that. So go ahead and have the last word, because as someone once said; "never argue with an idiot, they will bring you down to their level and beat you with experience".

I know I said I was done posting but your hypocrisy is absurd. You are criticizing me for questioning Yuri's PUBLIC actions... and then attack me personally when you literally know nothing about my life. Please STFU, smoke weed, and go watch The Big Lebowski some more.
About DaVaris, go read my original post and then try to comprehend my argument. I'll give you another set of quick cliffnotes:
There is a fundamental difference between punishing someone who is already on the team and accepting a recruit who has clear character issues.
Based on what we know, wouldn't Standifer be more deserving of an ND schooly? We can't deny him of the "American dream" can we? Pretty sad that the only reason you want Yuri is because of his 247 ranking. Nothing more.
I move to expel this man from the internet! You realize other people can read that, don't you?
I have several people at the top of my list.
And a few posters at the bottom.
No information.
.... a desperate try for some "distance" from recent pages.
Oh yeh, the thread topic : Ekanem.
Far be it from me, Johnny, to ever apply such allusions to you. You are at the top of all our lists.
Some refuse to state publicly what the TITLES of their lists are, of course.
No, glucosamine chondroitin needed here! (or aricept)
I have seen Ken Ekanem play and he will be a big get. People seem to forget about him since his knee injury. The technology out today athletes can fully recover from knee injuries with out any problems. Ekanem is a big prospect and is going to be a very good player.
Well, unfortunately, it seems as if the staff has stopped recruiting him. Not completely sure, but 2 different sites seem to think so...
