Same with me. Except I end my sentences with "pip pip, cheerio" and drink tea, all while wearing a top hat. :awesomewo

Some of us do speak with that accent, but we can also be a bit pissed off with the way things are going with this prospect.

Are we really summarizing that interview with, he paused before saying notre dame. Please...

I didn't hear anything positive though. Maybe because I was staring at Whitney too hard

The only thing I saw him say with passion, (change in body language, animation, vocal emphasis) was that he saw himself as a 3-4 DE. I think he avoided saying ND. (Methink he doth protest too much!) Also, the other thing that he seemed to say is that he still is hoping to play with his brother. That leaves out all of the PACx schools; so wasn't that just for show?

Why would anyone think that was "really bad" or that NDs chances are worse than we thought? That video showed me a shy, slightly nervous kid giving predictable answers. He was in no way "tipping his hand".

We the fans know nothing except that ND is fortunate to be in the position they are with him. This class is going to be great either way.. This staff is a crew of closers.

Keep in mind he basically just got back from visiting Auburn and was visited by Cal right after he returned. I don't believe he's had any real ND contact since, he's only had whatever his father and brother told him about their trip.

I'd like to see us hold a scholarship open for Whitney Blaine. She's at the top of my list.

SOPA!!!! PIPA!!!! How dare you "share" this with the rest of us...

Yeah, can't read too much in that I guess but we didn't seem to be on the tip of his tongue.

That is kind of what we are talking about. Sure, it was an interview with cookie-cutter answers, but when a recruit is asked about potential colleges he wants to attend, names two schools, and cannot even remember your school; it is not a good sign AT ALL. Ill be a realist here, it doesnt look promising for Notre Dame with Arik Armstead (which probably means Armond as well).

However, this is not a big loss at all in my opinion. The only reason I wanted them was because it might attract other big recruits to Notre Dame. Our DL is already top20 in the nation in my opinion and personally, I think every team on the schedule next year will have a hard time running on us, The Armsteads would have just proved depth, WAY TOO MUCH depth in my opinion...

As far as I'm concerned, ASSUMING there is something to be read into his pause, the time between now and NSD can only help our chances here. Coaches will have some extra time to close. Either way, we're not out of it yet.

As of now, we'll have 10/12 DL for 2012. Armond and Arik would bring us up to ideal depth.

So no, they're not really a luxury. Depth on the DL is arguably more important than for any other position group. We've got some talent on the DL now, but we're not deep yet.

You think we would need more than 12? That seems like a lot. I count exactly 12 if Hafis and Newman come back and Jones stays on defense, and that seems like a max to me. Four deep across the line. It's true of course that the Armsteads would be a HUGE upgrade over Hafis and Newman, but in terms of numbers I think we are good. Curious as to why we would need more (being serious, not trying to fight or be sarcastic at all).

It's very doubtful that Hafis and Newman will get asked to return. I'm assuming JJ stays at DE now.

We don't need more than 12, but if there's one position where we really want to be at full strength, it's DL. Quality DL depth is a big reason why the Giants beat the Packers last weekend, and it's the biggest difference between the SEC and everyone else.

This is one of the more ignorant things I have read in a looooooooong time. I don't even know what to say other than if you really think the (arguably) best player in the country is merely providing depth, then you need to turn off your computer, open the nearest window, and give said computer the most powerful heave you can muster. And then after that put yourself in timeout for two solid days.

There is no doubt that if we get him it will be a huge pick-up and the class will be a whole lot better.

ESPNU just listed Arik Armstead as a ND commit. Strange!

It was during the Recruiting Nation show.

I am a little confused as to how I summarized an entire interview. I clearly made an observation (valid) about one particular part of the interview.

I'm from Mayberry, we don't get excited about too much! The new out house was a pretty big deal! :)

You really need to stop with the insults. If you are going to insult, at least have the decency of explaining why I am wrong. nothing in your post was relevant to the thread discussion... Armstead is not the best player in the country under anyone's list and ill be happy with Tuitt, Nix, KLM, and Lynch.

You guys are way to pissy. You need to relax, chill, take a big gulp, take the kids to the pool for a swim, whatever:

Where do you get this kid as the number one recruit in the country? The only thing I have seen even close is that if Arik played offensive line, he would be the number one ol recruit.

Exactly. Arik's switch to D line makes his rating possibly inflated (in fact he has dropped considerably in the latest rankings, correct?). And I think NDhoosier's main point was just that D line is not a major position of need right now. WhiskeyJack convinced me that quality depth is important, but still, hoosier is not wrong about that.

Again, not to say I don't want the Armsteads ... I would be absolutely thrilled if we got them and both are great players. But they are not as critical to this class as, say, Shepard and Greenberry.

Right- because we have several other studs at the position already which affords us the luxory of quality depth. However, in order to maintain said quality depth we must keep the cupboard full by continuously adding players of this caliber.
