Who is Whitney Blaine anyway?

She is a writer for the USC Scout site. I actually have spoken to her through email a couple of times, and in person at one the USC events at the Coliseum. Really nice girl who cares about her work and who wants to succeed in this business. I've met some slimeball reporters and I've met some bimbos who just want to get by on their looks, but she's definitely not one of them. (And before we get into the inevitable tangent about her looks, I'll end this discussion of her by saying she is nothing spectacular - cute girl, nothing more, nothing less.)

She's doing great work on the Armstead recruitment...

are you thinking of Amory Blaine, from This Side of Paradise?

I can't tell you because my original post was mysteriously deleted. You may not want to be seen talking to me. Other posters that have been friendly with me have - disappeared . . .

Some say it is a conspiracy!

People disappearing? Conspiracy? Like 1984?

*Figured I'd stay with the classic novel theme

Ignorance being expressed in this thread about what really goes on with graduate school admissions is appalling but, I suppose, mildly diverting. EMCEE is the only one who knows what he is talking about. Graduate programs accept students on a case-by-case basis and depending upon how many students they "need" in a given year or how many their profs can "swallow" thesis-wise.

If Armond is applying to a program which likes his transcripts, and which has a reasonable relationship with the athletic program, approval of a position in that curriculum can be quite fast. If academic scholarship money is involved, maybe not so fast depending on the source of the scholarships. "Teaching assistantships" can be approved quickly, if they are there to give, as they are often an in-house thing. Situations are VERY individualistic in character.

By the way, Notre Dame's graduate programs in many fields are first rate. Lots of publishing and citations from an excellent faculty. Those guys don't hang their heads when they walk into a professional symposium.

Because Guss said two days ago that Washington was out of consideration. (Which is why people should stop worrying about late entries in general.)

From what I've read he's the one who Narrowed down the two schools to Notre Dame and Auburn. I think the fact that he can play Basketball at Notre Dame and Auburn is probably more appealing than playing Basketball at Washington. I live in Auburn and I know they just built a brand new basketball stadium so they probably have been pushing that on him. I just don't think Washington has much to offer on the basketball side of it, football yes, but he wants to do both.

In my opinion, Auburn and the rest of the SEC are not really known for Basketball but football. So to me playing for Notre Dame would be perfect, he gets to play in the Big East which we all know is the strongest conference in COLL BB, and then he can play for the greatest football program in history under BK. Come'on now Arik, I just pointed out the exact reason on why you and your Bro need to come to Notre Dame. GO IRISH!

I am sure this has already been asked and answered, somewhere in these 150 pages which the mods force us to sift through, but why aren't we worried about Washington?

Don't let the door hit you on your way out.

But don't think the Grotto has a door.

Bazinga.

If you don't think it is crazy to have to sift through 150 pages to find an answer to a simple question, then you have a lot more free time than me.

Double bazinga.

(P.S. Don't waste your time with another predictable smart *** reply, e.g., about my bazinga comment; not going to read it. Was merely making an observation - no one said you had to agree with it.)

Why would you read all 150 pages? and not just read last 10 or so?

Just talked to Armstead family:no decision with mom Christina saying,"The saga continues." Want Arik/Armond to play together ideally.

Armstead brothers at Cal together was longshot as USC won't release Armstead as transfer;together at NDame or Auburn? Could be.Lots of calls

Is Cal making a push again? Just a hunch. I don't like the word 'ideally' above.

*****Arik Armstead likely to wait...

I don't know if anyone besides me can see this, but it basically says that Arik might be waiting and not EE. Arik is expected to make a decision close to NSD. Sound like Armond is appealing SEC 1-year thing too.

Not looking good.

Although I agree with what you're saying, remember the Big East is losing two teams (Syracuse and Pitt) that make that confrence so difficult. The Big East won't be as strong in a couple of years, but they will still be a good confrence.

I canceled it this morning because I'm wasting too much time. IMO, it's not worth it but if you have free time, go ahead and sign up. The reason I can still see their inside stuff is because you cancel by emailing them and it takes 24 hours.
