Standing Applause! Thank you, young gentlemen, for making a great and appreciated decision. You're going to love it. By the way, ask your Dad if he has any eligibility left.

Per ESPN (Insider):

I don't have an Insider account, but this is what was available to me:

Livermore (Calif.) teammates and twins, George Atkinson and Josh Atkinson told themselves before their weekend visit to Notre Dame that if things went well, they would commit to the Irish. By mid-Sunday afternoon, that's exactly what happened.

"They called me around 2 o'clock and said they were ready to commit," George Atkinson Sr., the boys' father, said. "I was very excited and really felt like Notre Dame was the best spot for them this whole time. We had a long talk before they left and discussed whether or not they should commit this early.

"I told them that if they got that vibe while they were there that Notre Dame was the right place for them, go ahead and do it. I feel like you when know a school is right for you, you can just tell. They called and said Notre Dame was it and they could tell it was where they belonged.

Come it ready to hit the books hard... to hit the weight room hard... to hit the practice field and film room hard...

and to hit your opponents even harder.

He posted the Notre Dame 2010 Highlights/USC Pump-Up on his facebook. I think we may have an IE lurker...

Sweet, I bet he's gonna be starting for Notre Dame soon in Nickel situations I would imagine in 2011. Glad to have you Josh Atkinson. Over 6 ft and 4.4 speed is always welcome.

Love it, the Atkinsons will play important roles in next years team. With hard work Josh has a shot to be our 3rd corner next year backing the starters Grey and Blanton. He may fill the role RJ was provided this year on nickel as well....LOTS of playing time.

Very nice breakdown. I had no idea he was that fast. Technique is one thing that will surely be improved too with our outstanding DB coach. Josh has some star potential that I didn't know he had before reading that article.

CoachD's analysis is one of the reasons I stood with ISD over Scout and Rivals. He simply knows and understands the game better than most out there, and he's a straight-shooter - not a sunshine pumper. I remember after the Nevada blowout last year, while us posters were all washing Tenuta's balls, CoachD got killed on the message board for saying that he still saw major deficiencies in Tenuta's schemes and that the ND defense would still struggle against better teams. 3 weeks later we all wanted Tenuta fired. And he would get killed for calling out Ianello b/c his receivers ran poor routes (esp Tate - who he constantly chided for not being a good route-runner) and RARELY blocked...well guess what, Tate has been criticized for running poor routes in the NFL, and our receivers this year block downfield like we haven't seen for a lonnnng time (and therefore our running backs have longer runs this year).

Not to say that he's never wrong - he is, and he admits it. But he knows his sh!t. And if he likes a recruit, he likes him b/c of his skills not b/c ND is recruiting him. And I can tell you right now, he LOVES LOVES LOVES Ben Councell and he loves him some George Atkinson too. He thinks both can become stars at ND...

Great post NDinL.A. Just wondering what does he think about Jalen Brown? For some reason i think he is going to be a stud, especially since Bo Pelini wanted the kid really bad.

I know someone who wasn't happy about that drubbing. And I....err.. that person got beat up pretty badly for posting my...errr... his thoughts on the subject.

Mike Frank was talking about Jalen Brown and Josh Atkinson in their weekly Power Hour show. They are very high on Josh Atkinson but Jalen Brown was also brought up as someone with great potential. He has less speed than Josh but slightly better technique. It will be very interesting to see how these kids develope. I loved the differences in our defensive backfield just over this off-season. Should be fun to watch this coaching staff develope this young talent.

"Big George" is one heck of a man. We're lucky to get two fine young men who have been truly fathered by such a solid male presence. And what better place to grow to one's fullest potential, given such a great start, than Notre Dame.

Great video- not sure how old eveyone is on this forum-but I am in my mid 40s-I used to be a Minnesota Viking fanatic as a teenager. I tell you what- George Atkinson was an absolute beast- along with Jack Tatum in the secondary they gave people including the Vikes nightmares.
If his kids are as good as dad-and all signs pointing toward it-we could be in for a treat, love there enthusiasm.
