Kiel has been focused on the depth chart (allegedly) from the jump. We've all assumed this for quite some time. Let's not act like just because Kiel is Irish now that he never looked at the depth chart.

Of course he's concerned about depth chart; but, that's not my point. ESPN was saying the move was "all about the depth chart," when since the start of his recruitment it seemed that location played the biggest role.

Seriously who the hell cares. I'm sure a lot of moms want their kids to go to Notre Dame. And a lot of kids want to make their moms happy. And who knows if this is even the reason

If you can follow one sentence to the other, I'm agreeing with you, big guy.

"This recruitment process was a roller-coaster ride at times, but I know I have made the right decision for my family and me," Kiel said. "There were three critical elements I was looking for in my future school: the quality of education I would receive, the distance from home and the comfort level I would have with the players and coaches in the football program. Notre Dame was the perfect fit for me because it hit all three areas.

"Coach Kelly was great throughout my recruitment, as many times our conversations had nothing do with football. That really showed me he had my best intentions in mind. He was persistent yet also patient while recruiting me and I look forward to playing for him the next four years. I couldn't be happier to be a member of the Fighting Irish football team. I'm excited about the future of the program."

Source?

Big-ups to Brian Kelly and the rest of the staff. Huge for this program. Welcome to Notre Dame Gunner

No, because any time the mere mention of Tommy happens, it turns into a complete cluster-eff. There are a million threads to talk about Tommy and Andrew and Golson. Do it there, and now you can include Kiel in the discussion...

Yeah fine, I can see the idea that I should have left Tommy's name out of it, but only because of the way certain posters here react to it and not because mentioning another players name in a recruit's thread is per se off limits, right? I clearly was not trying to start a debate about Rees. It was just a lead in to a more general point about the depth chart and where Kiel fits in. I'm still having a hard time understanding how that is not relevant. Nobody complains about discussing the WR depth chart in Greenberry's thread, for example. And there are no complaints when Robby Toma's or TJ's names come up there. If there has to be special "Tommy Rules", OK. But that is a different argument altogether than saying it is inappropriate to discuss the depth chart in the thread of player who is already enrolled.

Another example of Kelly staying strong in his approach and coming through at the end of the day. Looks like this class is far from crumbling as previously reported.
