I thought the SEC had rules denying graduate transfers in?
Indeed they do. It's unclear whether Auburn can count Armond as a "regular" transfer (therefor not invoking the graduate transfer rule) since he already sat out a year.
Among their actions on the final day of the league's business meetings, presidents voted to eliminate the exception for graduate students to an existing rule that requires student-athletes transferring to an SEC school to have at least two years of eligibility remaining in their sport.

My limited research indicates the "Masoli" rule should prevent his transfer either way.
Unless Auburn is somehow allowed to preemptively count on Armond getting a medical waiver, he simply doesn't have two years of eligibility remaining. Of greater concern is the fact that "the new rule goes into affect Oct. 1, 2012."

Worst news I've heard yet on the matter.
My guess: Armond to Aurburn and Arik to Cal.
I know things could change in an instant, but this seems like a big step backwards from last year if we don't land a few of the following:
Darby
Wright
Neal
Fuller
We need play makers! I rather save spots than offer more project players. Hopefully we can win more games with a tougher schedule next year and have a top class next year.
agree with this 100%, but i don't get paid to make the calls, thank goodness.
i don't look into stars bud personally, i look at the offer list. there's a difference b/t 3* justin ferguson and 3* standifer. look at the offers and they'll show you that imo.
I believe Mathieu's best offer was from LSU, then it considerably dropped to UL-Lafayette and UL-Monroe...
Something along those lines.
yea, but the LSU is gonna stand out, imo. if they want him, almost everybody should.

maybe he wasn't helped by film evaluation too much, meaning he didn't get his name out there enough to be recruited nationally perhaps. plus it's expensive to travel the camp circuit...just some possibilities.

Can anyone explain why the SEC blocks graduate transfers? They'll take questionable JUCO transfers all day, but not a graduate?
Very true.
That, and the fact that he's at or under 5'10 and ran a 4.6ish forty
but he's also proof that you can look sexy as hell on paper (Will Hill) and not amount to squat.
The opposite being Mathieu, and another example, Golden Tate.... Lowly rated, wildly productive

Golden Tate was not a lowly rated, diamond-in-the-rough recruit.
