Who is the Most Important Recruit in this class?

I'm wondering who is viewed as the most important recruit in this class. Think of the options and offer some feedback (if you so choose).

1) Tee Shepard. Our first verbal to the class, a top player in a position of desperate need for next year. His cousin DGB was certainly strongly influenced by his decision.

2) Deontay Greenberry. Cousin of aforementioned Tee. Another top tier talent at a position that needs him big time next year. Very highly rated for very good reason.

3) Ronald Darby. Fast. Tremendous talent. Position of need. Great recruiter for us. Am I missing anything w Ronald?

4) William Mahone. Stop me if this sounds redundant, but a tremendous talent in a position that needs to reload. Another vocal recruiter for this school. Looks like he will be a bad a** at his position.

5) Not verbals yet, but Shumate and Wright combo. If they do pop for the Irish (not counting chickens yet) they are A) tremendously talented, B) In positions of need and in 1 case, flexible enough to play other positions and C) open the door to a possible pipeline to a school with a wealth of football talent.

6) Someone not yet on board? Would Armstead, Neal, Agholor, Garnett or afeadi O. trump all already verballed?

7) Other. Jarron Jones or Sheldon Day? Continues the massive defensive front 7 this team so desperately needs to compete at the highest levels? Ronald Stanley, Taylor Decker (hold on big fella) or any of the other big uglies? Ferguson, Brown, etc.? Look forward to some feedback. By the way, I was on vacation last week, anything happen? Any Kiel news? JK.

Scott Daly. Go ahead and blast me for this if you will.

How many games are won and lost due to special teams? More than many of us are willing to admit. I want a LS who puts it in the holder's hands every single freaking time. I want a LS who won't undershoot or oversnap the punter.

He's the least glamorous of our recruits, but the one who cannot ever afford to **** up. His play affects every facet of the game.

I hope he redshirts and we get to keep him for 5 years. A team can never use enough schollies on special team players.

Every kid that signs the paper. It's too close to say just one. We need the wrs. and the dbs. and o-line. So im going to take the easy way out and say every recruit is very vital to our future success.

1. Tee Shephard... because he is a 5:s: talent at a position of need AND an EE
2. Deontay Greenberry. Balls and swag.
3. Darby (unless Wright commits, then I'd probably move him from this slot)
4. Jarron Jones. His flexibility to play OL or DL basically makes it "OK" to lose one of our OL recruits... and if we keep everyone he could be a monster on the DL. 5:s: talent. Would be higher if we didn't already have monsters on the DL.
5. Keivarae Russel. Flexibility athlete fills a need at BOTH slot and RB.

Sheperd and Darby are a tie at number 1 with Greenberry right behind them. He will be playing right away next year. Not saying he is our go to guy, but will definitely see minutes in key situations.

If you could make it just one player: Darby. We have to have that speed!

In reality, since Shepard and Greenberry are a package deal, Shepard because of the EE.

Love'm all. Good job by the staff of filling needs.

NDPhilly, your list is basically a rehash of the kid's rankings, except for knocking Day down.

Personally, I think its kind of poor form to list who you think are the least importnat recruits. What's the point? You should have stopped somewhere around 5.

Your probably right. I forgot that recruits read this site.

Deontay Greenberry hands down. Tee and Darby at this point are very close. I wouldn't trade Greenberry for anybody in the country!

Every kid in this class is absolutely important, but if I had to pick one that has influenced this class the most, I'd have to say Tee.

Does Manti count? If so, then him. If not, I say Darby. He's been eating people's children at every 7 on 7 camp he's been to.

Tee, because he's bringing the 2nd most important recruit with him.

Tee and Darby, and hopefully Yuri, fill the biggest area of need so they're the most important.

Excellent list man. I myself am in love with JJ and Day. Notre Dame lacked elite DL for YEARS and now Kelly is bringing them in left and right. Being a fat guy, I'm partial to the recruitment of fat guys. No major game changer at OL this year, but the CBs and the elite DTs make my list.

Greenberry. He needs to come in to try to fill Floyd's shoes... and he has the talent.

We need all these athletes and I don't see anyone among them that doesn't have the potential to easily start on the team sometime in their ND careers. No "busts" here. When we finally fill up this will be a sparkler of a group --- which is what they'll think of themselves as: a band of brothers, headed towards a championship.
