Ok...I'm not trying to fan any flames, so relax before even reading this.
Anyone think this recruitment could possibly end up the way Prestwood's did? He seemed happy at one place, then changed his mind...then after a while thought it over and realized the former was better.
With Kiel he was set on Indiana for a while, decommitted, and now is torn between at least 2 schools if not 3.
Makes me wonder.

Someone had mentioned earlier that the (non-ND) Indiana schools very very anti ND. Is it possible the "LSU" chanting had everything to do with that and nothing to do with which way Kiel is leaning? I mean, all it takes is one smartass to get a chant going- pack mentality and all.

Personally, I don't think the kid is leaning in any one direction right now. I think he's truly torn in three directions and that his decision will be as much news to him as it is to us the day he announces.

Wiltfong checked in with his "camp" again this morning and asked if there was anything to the students chanting LSU last night. The response...

"Not that we know of."

And like sand through the hour glass, these are the day of our lives.

I think he and his teammates were just messing with us internet rumor mongers - which is not to say he has dismissed LSU. I just think it's a reaction to recent events. Of course, like everything surrounding Gunner's recruitment these days, that's mere speculation.

I went to IU and I didn't get an anti-ND vibe there at all. I knew lots of Notre Dame fans in Bloomington and I know a lot of ND fans here in Southern Indiana.

Here's my opinion on what happened. Most non catholic schools in Indiana are indeed anti-ND. Honestly, I think his friends want to see him play at LSU beause it would be cool for them; I went to school with Wayne Ellington (UNC) and Gerald Henderson (Duke) who both were considering Villanova. We all wanted them to pick the ACC schools because of their basketball prominence, and while they did, I think it was because of personal reasons not because kids in their school wanted them to go there. We can look at the kids chanting LSU as if they "knew something", that LSU is where he is going to commit, but if that was the case, he would have done so last night. IMO, Gunner seems to have a good head on his shoulders. I think he understands the importance of a good education, and throughout the process has stated he wants to stay closer than home. At the end of the day, I believe he will sleep on it and eventually chose ND, but no matter where he choses I think we as a fanbase should all support it and not trash him if the decision does not go in our favor because he has really gone through this process in the most professional way possible. He has never at one point played games with us, or made us think that he would come here; that has all been from the media. I hope hes Irish, but I am confident that Golson will be able to take control someday soon.

Reading the LSU board makes me laugh, because they are over analyzing things just like we are. Fans of all three teams are confused and riding a huge emotional roller coaster.

The good news is this should be over soon.

Hate to add another post that has no real info, but my theory on the LSU chants is that he was going to announce for ND (based on all the rumors the past couple days) and that the chants threw him off. Who would want to announce to one school while all your friends/classmates are chanting for another one?

In this darkest hour, what says Kiel's prophet? WHERE ART THOU, Wooly?

hark... I am here.

Just chillin, homie. Nothing has changed in my mind. But it's not like I have any new info that is going to change anybody else's mind. So I am just going to sit back and enjoy Christmas beverages.

I will say this. If he was planning on announcing LSU, and kids were chanting LSU, wouldn't that just make it easier to announce?

Like I said. This thread is like a bad car wreck.... horrifying... but I cant look away...

haha so the LSU theory is that he was all set to announce ND because his parents are trying to make him go to Notre Dame but when he got out there and the kids started chanting LSU he just couldn't pull the trigger because in his heart he wants to go to LSU, and he just has to convince his parents to let him.

I am not even joking.

Have you seen some of our theories? LOL

They are just as deranged as we are. It's amazing what we can convince ourselves on when we try hard enough.

Makes sense^.....except I think he wants to go to ND, but the chanting threw him off. Every kid likes to be popular.

Hopefully someone see's this before it's deleted : )

Better yet.

I can't imagine they are pushing very hard to go to notre dame. They came down here twice and once to watch preperation for the seccg.

Yeah... because he hasn't been to Notre Dame twice....

This is how I feel every time I click into this thread. I am so beyond confused on even how to think with Kiel that I don't even care where he goes at this point, just do it!

Staff is now showing a lot of interest in Devin Fuller as a QB (previously we only wanted him as a DB, but now we are talking with him about QB). Kid is an elite athlete -- top 50 player according to every service.

May mean the staff is looking beyond Gunner, but too soon to know.

X2

To be honest, it would surprise me if the staff went after another QB other than Kiel. When Kiel committed to IU, the staff completely let off the gas with getting a QB. So going after a kid that they would have to convert to the QB position would be a shocker.

The interest in Fuller is from ISD. What it means about Gunner are my thoughts.

Just saw it on Twitter.

F*ck. That's a pretty strong indication that the staff doesn't feel confident we'll get Kiel.
