Just my opinion but I feel good about both. Neither have really started their recruitment and ND is already all over them.

Per ISD, his dad is definitely on ND's side - said it was a "no-brainer." Loved their visits. ND strong contender.

How good is this kid? I mean I know he's a four star but where does he rank alongside the other safeties were recruiting/have committed.

IMO would be the best safety we have a legit shot with and I would say he is the most natural safety we would get in a few years. I like him.

He would most likely be are biggest get at safety since Slaugther. Ironman would be the man to ask i dont know much about Shumate.

Shumate is a really solid athlete. I don't know how advanced his fundamentals are at the safety position, but he has the athleticism to be a very, very good safety.

I haven't seen much on Shumate. Do we have senior tape of him? I heard he could even play in the box (as in, he is that good against the run).

If anyone leads right now, it's us. If he decides to pull the trigger sooner rather than later we've got him. But right now that doesn't appear incredibly likely to happen.

I'm interested to see what kind of effect his decision ends up having on Yuri Wright.

If they both hustle, I'm sure ND has room for both. That would be a dynamic duo to add to this class at this time. Top 5 for sure.
