This is a team that lost to USF, barely beat BC, Wake, and Pitt...

In other words this is still and team that has the ability to lose to just about anyone... while FSU is not what they would like to be either, they sure as hell aint just anyone...

I think we can pull this out... but...

That's a oxymoron isn't it ..... "Rees on the field" and "we take care of the rock and not give any freebies"!?!

Damn, wash my mouth out w/ soap for printing that! :)

i completely agree...now having to ask off for a 1/2 day at work...i have to have a few hours of pregamming

Already did it. No question about it the need for pregame activity. Game starts at 3:30 my time so just waiting to get off work isn't an even an option. Think I'll take the next day off, too as I plan to drink copious amounts of alcohol whether Notre Dame wins or wins.

Not sure if this has been reported on another thread or not, but it looks like FSU's D Coordinator Mark Stoops might be heading to Auburn. If he leaves, I wonder if he will still coach the defense in the bowl game?

Word from the FSU fans here is he will leave asap and Greg Hudson will take over for the bowl game and possibly beyond.

Florida State RB Jermaine Thomas academically ineligible, won’t play in Champs Sports Bowl - The Washington Post

TALLAHASSEE, Fla. — Florida State senior running back Jermaine Thomas has been declared academically ineligible for the Champs Sports Bowl and will not play in his final college game.

Florida State coach Jimbo Fisher said Wednesday Thomas did not pass one of his classes during the fall semester. Fisher says Thomas was the only player on the roster who is academically ineligible for the Dec. 29 game against Notre Dame.

Thomas was Florida State’s second-leading rusher in 2011, gaining 279 yards and a touchdown. He averaged 4.6 yards per carry.

Without Thomas, Florida State will likely lean more on freshman Devonta Freeman, who has 531 rushing yards and eight touchdowns. Either freshman James Wilder Jr. (150 rushing yards) or senior Ty Jones (71 rushing yards) should see increased playing time.

Something doesn't add up there. I'm guessing Thomas had more than 279 rushing yards this season.

My mistake. I didn't realize the freshman was their #1.

Just listened to the FSU practice reports, etc. For whatever it's worth:

A). they sounded like they were fired up and having a good time getting at it --- Fisher felt that way too. Hopefully, they'll peak too early.

B). everyone mentioned Tyler Eifert [though not by name]. Everyone mentioned playing against two different QBs and two different styles. Everyone mentioned that the O-Line doesn't give up many sacks, and as their D-Line is their strength, they're looking forward to that challenge. No one talked about their offense. Most of them mentioned that the starting QB [Rees, unnamed] gets rid of the ball very quickly, so it's hard to sack him.

Oddly, I didn't feel much excitement over this game. In fact, I sometimes forgot that it's being played.

Then I saw a commercial preview on ESPN and now I can't wait for next Thursday.

I've been stoked for this matchup since I saw it was a possibility of them playing FSU an hour and a half away from my house. I, too am stoked for next Thursday!

Could be, but we get first crack and then it becomes the Capitol One bowl after us I think?

I thought they installed field turf due to the abysmal conditions of the field after the past two bowl games?

Im not so stoked about this game. Tommy Rees really scares me in this situation. Can some one talk me up and give me some good reasonoing why we have a good shot at winning?
