Let's stop pretending that QB is not a position of need for this team. I think everyone is in agreement that Rees has peaked and isn't taking us to the BCS. Hendrix looked good against Stanford and AF but until he starts and plays an entire game multiple times in a row, he's an unknown. I think and hope he'll be good, but I'm not confident enough to turn away Kiel. Golson hasn't seen any game time and from what I've read on here, whether true or not, can't hang onto the ball in practice and doesn't know the playbook. I'm excited to see him play but once again, none of us know how he'll turn out. I don't think he's good enough to pass on a consensus 5 star QB. Honestly, I don't think you ever pass on one if the opportunity presents itself. People saying we're only interested in him because he'll bring other recruits are delusional and trying to set themselves up for the possibility of Gunner signing elsewhere.

With a good Quarterback, we might have been undefeated right now. Let just say that QB being a position of need is an understatement.

@OCirish They would've needed to win the Pac-12 title game, otherwise you would already have Stanford and Oregon in the BCS. Can't have all three.

That's why I said "if eligible". Southern Cal wasn't even eligible to play for Conferance Championship. I think they would have beaten the Ducks again in Autzen.

It is amazing how "eh" people are about the possibility of us getting a 5 star quarterback. This thread should be blowing up.

Its 124 pages of: "If we get Kiel, maybe agholar will come!"

Nah man, look through this thing. Kiel has been a lightning rod for IrishEnvy members. Most of us are in wait-and-see mode now. Not really much talk about for me right now personally unless something changes or happens.

I'd like to land Gunner, if he doesn't come, its not the end of the world. If he does come, I wish he'd pop soon, and just maybe some of the higher profile recruits hop on board. I do, however, understand a kid making sure its the right choice. This isn't an easy decision for any of these kids.

I'm just not sure why there isn't universal exitement, maybe its because he's from IN. I'll admit I'm guilty of being a little blase about it as well.

I want him. One of the areas we need to improve on is the ability of the QB position to make plays, or can make other teams believe and worry that our QB can beat you himself.

Love Golson and Hendrix 'cause they're here and maybe they can get us there. I really hope so! I really appreciate Tommy for what he has stepped in and done.

Until we can get to a QB that gives what I said above, I want Gunner Kiel.

Any team (pro or college) that is in a "rebuilding phase" knows you take the best available player when you can, and not worry about need over snagging elite game-changers.

I'd rather have a quarter than two dimes any day of the week.

The quarter would be pretty awesome. Now imagine if a couple dimes wanted to come play with your quarter...

For me, I'm just burnt out from talking about so much earlier in the process when we had those epically (embarrassing) marathon sessions arguing over #1 QBs and their projected potential and Mauk vs. Kiel and all that nonsense we partook in LOL. Now I'm just waiting to see what he chooses. No need to worry over where these guys take visits when it's completely out of my control anyways...

Lemming had several comments on records that were set around the country last week.

* He revealed that Gunner Kiel of Columbus East (Ind.) will be making an official visit this weekend to the University of Notre Dame. He is the nation's top-ranked quarterback and the kind of player who could lead the Fighting Irish to the "Promised Land," according to Lemming. Also visiting will be talented offensive lineman Josh Garnett of Puyallup (Wash.).

My buddy SWEARS up and down that Gunner has been on Purdue's campus NUMEROUS times over the last few weeks. Staying very close to home is apparently important to him, and Purdue is gaining steam in his sweepstakes.

In the past this friend has been known to not make up or exaggerate things, so I figured someone here may know about this. Anybody got an inside scoop?

If he left IU because he didn't see them going anywhere, why would he pick up Purdue?

Slight change of plans in Gunner Kiel's visit to Notre Dame. Tunnel Vision set for the top of hour. Try the 7-day trial on BlueandGold.com

If your buddy really saw this, then he has more info than every recruiting site in the country. Purdue was one of his first offers and he has never shown any interest.

Slick how he threw in the 7-day free trial comment in with the slight change. Good marketing.

He's probably arriving an 1hour late...
