I think TT had a freudian slip. I think he meant to say Stoops to OSU.
The reports that had Irish running back coach Tim Hinton headed to Ohio State to join the staff of longtime friend and new Buckeye head coach Urban Meyer appear to have been premature. Hinton is expected to stay with Kelly and Notre Dame.

Coach Hinton coming to see me Friday morning before they go under way for bowl practice
I didn't want to be a pessimist before, but there was a lot of smoke here with him visiting Taylor Decker alone and then Taylor saying the visit went "fine" and that he was "99% committed to ND and the only thing that could change his mind would be a coaching change." I will be seriously disappointed in Tim if this is true AND he poaches a recruit in the process. That would be straight dirty.
**Hinton At A Resolution? … We continue to hear that Notre Dame running backs coach Tim Hinton will join Urban Meyer’s offensive coaching staff at Ohio State in some capacity.
We say “some capacity” because it is widely presumed that Stan Drayton will be running backs coach (he was OSU’s wide receivers coach in 2010, but was an RB coach under Meyer at Florida). Therefore, Hinton could be joining the fold as wide receivers coach, or perhaps there is a chance he will be RB’s coach and Drayton will stick with the wideouts. The bottom line is that multiple sources all have the same sentiment: Look for Hinton to be a Buckeye in the very near future.
Maybe they have an agreement to not say anything about leaving until after NSD so recruits won't decommit. Who the eff really knows though.

Oh look, troll picked a new screen name.
He's not going anywhere. Those "reports" were retracted looong ago. You had to go all the way back to November 28th to serve your purposes.

Would it make sense to promote Hinton to OC, give him a bump in salary and then allow him to remain focused on the RBs and hire a full-time ST coach instead of filling the RB coach role? I'm not sure what the pecking order is for a promotion on the offensive staff. I know Warriner would also have to get some consideration, but if Hinton could leave (and potentially take recruits with him) then he might have the leverage in terms of getting the promotion. Of course, that would present other challenges in terms of the dynamics among the staff going forward.
Just speculating, but I think the loss of Warriner would be worse than the loss of Hinton and a recruit or two. I don't want to see Hinton leave, but he strikes me as being among the most dispensable members of Kelly's staff.
Kelly's rule is supposedly that his staff can leave for other schools with no hard feelings as long as it's a promotion, but serious bridges would be burned if a staff member makes a horizontal move. Taking a positional coaching role under Meyer would definitely be a horizontal move, and Hinton would burn a lot of bridges in the process. Why would he do such a thing?
Like I said, I'm not familiar with the pecking order of the coaches within the staff. My question was legitimate, not a suggestion that such a move was a no-brainer. I am familiar with Kelly's policy re: horizontal moves, and I agree with you - if I were Hinton, making that move (which could actually be a demotion for all we know) does not make a ton of sense. Except that he is from Ohio, is apparently a friend of Meyer's, and Meyer seems to be a pretty persuasive dude somehow.
So, maybe you're right and maybe the move makes so little sense that Hinton wouldn't make it, but I just wasn't sure of where he fit in with the staff in terms of importance and influence. I hope he stays put, but at least if he does go it seems like his defection won't cripple the program. I wasn't exactly excited to see Molnar go, but I do think it is healthy to infuse a little fresh blood every now and then. I'm sure ND will be able to attract somebody really good to fill out the staff.

I'm certainly not a troll, just a new member was going through the different forum topics and googled this one and saw that. Did not realize it had been retracted will try to be more careful in the future.
No worries. You came at the same time a troll was banned, so it smelled funny. Welcome aboard, and happy posting...
Thanks man!

Sorry to go OT for a second, but we don't have a full time ST coach already?
If not, makes sense that the punt team was a disaster.
