Was looking up the same information you were lol. Still looking for a more "authoritative" summary of the condoms scholarship numbers.

Looks like Tee is going too, per a cryptic tweet from Rivals.

6?

EDIT: 4? They have 11 commits per 247. Don't know how EEs work or if some of these commits are walk-ons. I see two lowly rated guys who might be.

Posting as a mod LOL (and only b/c it's a pertinent question that I know the answer to):

Kiffin is trying to get 5 guys to EE. Add that to the 15 allowable and that will make 20 guys that can possibly bring in. (Don't ask me how they can get 5 EE's on top of last year's loaded class because I have no idea.)

What will be interesting is how they purge their roster to get down to 75 schollies. They'll be trimming the fat by unloading unwanted guys (medical redshirts, forcing, errrrrr, telling guys they won't play much so they should transfer, kicking them off the team for academic faults - as if that was ever a problem there - etc etc etc.)

USC is about to get dirrrrrrrty...

EDIT: These guys were always going to take visits. Save yourself some stress and chill out and see how it plays out. They were never 'committed', only leaning toward ND in the first place. Why blow a gasket over things you have no control of. Tee will be Irish, but I do wonder about his cousin, always have. Hopefully he'll stick though. He'd be an idiot to go to USC with no Barkley and crazy sanctions, playing behind Woods and Lee (while at ND he has a chance to start from the jump).

So, do the sactions prevent them from going over the 15 player limit each year or does it apply to the total amount of players on scholarship (i.e., can't have more than 75 on scholarship players next year)?

Yeah... but never put it past these guys to sell kids whatever they think they need to hear. It was Kiffen who told Carlisle that USC had the #1 business school. It was either Kiffen or Carrol or Ed O that tried to scare Alshon Jeffrey to USC by telling him, and I quote, he would "end up pumping gas" if he went to South Carolina. These guys take no prisoners. And I'm sure they'll do everything in their power to steal recruits from ND.

In other news, they took 31 guys last year but I know some (at least 2 if memory serves correctly) didn't qualify... so let's say their class was conservatively 29 kids. The only number we are missing from the equation is how many kids EE'd last year and we can find out how many spots they have open under the 25 limit for kids to EE this year.

Looking at this article: USC football team prepares to welcome early enrollees - Los Angeles Times

It seems they took 14 kids in 2010 which allowed them to have a whopping 11 EEs if they wanted to... and it looks like they got a total of 9. So 31 - 2 non-qualifiers - 9 EEs = 20 kids signed last year in the "fall" class... which leaves room for 5 EEs and 15 regular kids in this class... which would give them a whopping 9 remaining spots assuming they can get those 5 EEs. That's some crazy voodoo numbers magic.

No matter what though, they will be stuck with 15 next year and the year after... leaving them with 29+20+15+15=79 scholarship players with no redshirts... putting them 4 over the cap.... so yeah, they're going to be cutting kids if they haven't started already.

Let's get back to Deontay. Or, even better, Wooly and his shoe.

So I'd rather not look through pages of jibberish, anyone come up with why Ray Sheppard would say they aren't going and then today they said they would?

My best guess is that they got called up by Kelly & Co. and were convinced to go on a recruiting trip of their own, or they just decided to go have some fun, pick up some hotties.

They're Irish all the way.. It would be one hell of a flip flop at this point after all of the love shown towards ND.

All in all, they are doing what they said they were going to do, visiting colleges.

If we feel pretty strong about Tee not flipping, would you rather Greenberry visit alone or would you rather Tee go along. If Tee goes along he could hopefully help shoot down some of the sales job. But if he goes, it would at least raise some additional risk that Tee would flip too.

What do you think? Is it better for Tee to go along or not?

Tee's as solid as anyone in this class. We absolutely want him to be with Deontay on every visit.

With how much Tee and even DG seem to love ND already, I'm surprised they haven't grown to hate USC yet. I wouldn't visit that place if they paid me (which, if I were a 5-star athlete, they would ;)).

Edit: Was not sure how the smiley-face followed by a ) would work but I'm proud of you computer.

Not true. They don't have to take a full 15 this year due to the EE that count for last year. They can take 5 EE this year and 10-12 players for a total of 17 player class. This would leave 3-5 EE next year plus the 15. They can continue to do this year after year. Getting their numbers up last year will allow them to do this. Kiffin really played the sanctions quite well if you ask me. I bet coaches who have scholarship reductions will follow in his footsteps.

That can help him get around the 15 per year cap, but there's nothing he can do to avoid the 75 total scholarships cap.

No, but convincing kids to transfer is pretty much the same by getting rid of the "dead weight". Having those EE spots open allows them the flexibility to sign more and maintain their talent.

It's heart-warming that Tee told Kiffycakes to eff off, but I kinda wish he was there with Deontay.
