picking this game up on tuesday. anyone playing on ps3? ive heard there are some problems. can anyone confirm this?

The problems on PS3 haven't affected my game at all. My save file is around 9 MB with close to, or over, 30 hours of gameplay.
It doesn't affect every PS3...it seems to be model dependent. They submitted patch 2 so expect that the weekend after Turkey Day...they are working on patch 3 as we speak...specifically lag issues related to game save file size and whatnot.

I would wait to grab it Thanksgiving Night or even the dreaded Black Friday (heck...Cyber Monday) since there will be some killer sales.

Despite getting off to a bad start, I'm loving Skyrim now.

I think I accidently became the most wanted man in Skyrim. I'm not completely sure, but I think it's because I lockpicked into someone's property. Next thing I know, I'm battling several people who won't die. Every time I got their health down to where they would normally die they instead dropped to one knee, recovered, and got back up to fight me again. I also ran into someone who forced me to go to jail. Eventually I realized I wasn't going to kill them so I tried to just outrun them, but they followed me all the way back to the last town I was in and killed me. This was all incredibly frustrating, but luckily I had a save file that was before all of this mumbo jumbo so I just quit without saving.

After that it started to get much better. This game is a lot of fun and a refreshing break from the sports games that I almost exclusively play.

Exactly,

If you had played Oblivion or Morrowwind, you might get a couple of little references they make, but it certainly doesn't make a difference.

However, I would definently recommend picking those games up, well worth the money.

Morrowind is one of my favorite games ever. That being said, it would be tough to go back to it after Skyrim. Even tougher if you'd never played it.

So I crafted some Dragon Armour last night...It really fits the Nord look.
Daedric Armour has higher overall protection...and makes you look like Sauron from LOTR...But Dragon comes in Heavy and Light Armour. I'm at about 48 hours of playing already.

There really aren't classes...Races though...doesn't really matter.
I go with Nord or Redguard or Orc for straight warrior type play...

I feel like I'm a decent portion of the way through the game myself. I hit level 40 and have nearly maxed Destruction, Archery, and several others skills. I haven't done much of the main quest line, but I've located 90+% of all the locations on the map just by wandering on my horse for endless hours. I've cleared out probably 50%-60% of those locations and done a ton of sidequests. I have to say that Skyrim is beautiful, but the snow gets depressing after awhile...especially living in Ohio and going into Winter soon. I love the new interface, implenting the perk system from Fallout. I love the dual casting of spells and epic Archery perks. Overall I think they made Fallout more entertaining though.

I realize it's a difference between they're two franchises, but the lack of humor makes the game less entertaining for me. Don't get me wrong, I love all Bethesda's Elder Scrolls games. I've played them all but the first. I'm just starting to get bored with the "Go to a cave, clear out the bandits/necromancers/draugr, retrieve item" questlines. The quests involving Daedric Princes or Draemora have been the most entertaining so far. It seems like too many quests are cut and dry, not as many cool ones that are outside the box or involve neat objectives or NPCs. I'm finally getting around to doing the Thieves Guild quests, so maybe that will change (I wrote the Oblivion Guide for the Thieves and Mages guilds for GameFAQs). I was very disappointed with the Mage's Guild, waaaay too short. I'm hoping the Thieves Guild is not the same way.

Just got to lvl 22 today

I've been trying to upgrade some of my magic skills as well,

One Handed: 64
Block: 45
Heavy Armor: 55
Conjuration: 42
Restoration: 40

Plus some of the lower ones (Smithing, Speech, Archery, Destruction) are in the 30's

Going for a well rounded character

Sounds like you've been doing mostly random tasks. Try the Dark Brotherhood. I'm only a little ways into it, but certainly has a sense of humor going for it...

the only trace of the dark brotherhood I've had was a bounty they've put on me so far....

How do you get to them?

Is it through that side quest with the kid? Alverni? or whatever his name is

One of my favorite pass times so far is to Paralyze the enemy with my bow.... run up , hack them to death with a Two handed warhammer, then take their soul. Wow, typing that kinda creeps me out.

You need counseling. haha
What are you using to paralyze? I don't have any enchantments of that type yet.

dual wielding spells ftw. Electricity for the mages, fire for everything else. I just finished the college of winterhold quest line and with the equipment and powerups I got from finishing it, I feel like demi-god at this point. Probably going to raise the difficulty to expert soon, because I'm taking down everything by dual wielding fire until they get close then taking out an enchanted blades sword and hitting them once.

I have Dragon Armour...Smithing hit 100 yesterday about this time.
It is SWEEET.
Daedric is better as far as armour rating (and appearance in my opinion, SAURON!!!) goes though...ingredients are rarer though. I need Daedra hearts before I can improve it all to awesomeness...til then maxed out Dragon Armour will suffice.

As for raising your smithing...spam hide bracers and iron daggers!
OVER AND OVER.
And pay the smith in Riften to train you 5 times a level.
You'll get to 100 in no time.
Til then...hit 60 (I think) and make some Ebony Armour...it'll fit nicely for now...and looks awesome to boot.

lvl 30 mage - really haven't become more or less powerfull over last 8 or so levels as they have just been gained from leveling enchanting and side/non-main story arc quests.

Dual wielding destruction magic, especially as a high elf, is OP. Slow time shout, unload dual casting fireball/incinerate (magika permitting), duck behind cover. Highborn to regen, if you even need to.

In a word: redonkulous.

Hide Bracers need 1 leather and 2 leather strips...cheaper than worrying about Iron ore and ingots.

A mix of both is what I did...I flew through.

Quick question to the lvl 100 smithers...

Do you have to use Dragon Bones/Scales to make Dragon Armor?
