I am glad that you have a positive out look but we are not going to stand a chance against Stanford. I am still worried about the Navy game considering we don't even have a top 50 defense.
Sigh!
Little ingenious as ND's Rush Defense is ranked number 58. Are 8 slots that significant?
ND allows 148 yds rushing/game. #50 allows 139. Wow, 9 yds/game difference!
Here are the 5 teams Navy's lost to and their Rush Defense ranking:
S. Car 53
AF 111
USM 51
RU 35
ECU 98
Back to Everett. He weighs 180 pounds. Until he gains some bulk he can not take the pounding that a running QB takes in Kelly's offense. Plain and simple. Plus he not only has to know the playbook AND audibles, he has to be able to read defenses on the fly and make the same reads as his WRs, TEs, RBs, and OLine. Then he also has to have the timing down with all his receivers. This for a guy that isn't taking snaps in practice except for running the scout team.
This isn't "Go long and I'll hit you by the manhole cover. If you're not open I'll pull it down and deke around the fat kid with the glasses." That "fat Kid" is Division 1 is a 21 or 22 year old Defensive End that weighs around 300, runs a 4.6 40, and benchs 450.
Golson is exciting but he needs time to grow physcially and time to grow into his role.
For the rest of '11, it's Rees, Crist and Hendrix. And not necessarily in that order.
