sigh really? wtf u think is gonna happen to him if a 5* signs with Tommy and Hendrix having actual game time. Hes 6 foot under 200, his best bet if he has pro aspirations is rb/wr. That really to hard for u to understand. get a clue.

Dude Everett is a quarterback plain and simple, denard robinson is 5-11 180lbs. and vick is 6 ft. 200lbs, in college it doesn't matter, if he is committed to winning football games at the college level then he wouldn't care about weather or not he will make it to the pros. or else he wouldn't have been playing qb in the first place.

Point is if hes 3rd/4th string, his talents r far more useful in other positions. So if hes commited to winning football games he will play wr/rb.

Dont even bring up Denard he is a joke as a QB. He cant throw at all. Hes an elite athlete who flings the ball in the air and prays it goes to right guy.

I am glad that you have a positive out look but we are not going to stand a chance against Stanford. I am still worried about the Navy game considering we don't even have a top 50 defense.

Sigh!

Little ingenious as ND's Rush Defense is ranked number 58. Are 8 slots that significant?

ND allows 148 yds rushing/game. #50 allows 139. Wow, 9 yds/game difference!

Here are the 5 teams Navy's lost to and their Rush Defense ranking:

S. Car 53
AF 111
USM 51
RU 35
ECU 98

Back to Everett. He weighs 180 pounds. Until he gains some bulk he can not take the pounding that a running QB takes in Kelly's offense. Plain and simple. Plus he not only has to know the playbook AND audibles, he has to be able to read defenses on the fly and make the same reads as his WRs, TEs, RBs, and OLine. Then he also has to have the timing down with all his receivers. This for a guy that isn't taking snaps in practice except for running the scout team.

This isn't "Go long and I'll hit you by the manhole cover. If you're not open I'll pull it down and deke around the fat kid with the glasses." That "fat Kid" is Division 1 is a 21 or 22 year old Defensive End that weighs around 300, runs a 4.6 40, and benchs 450.

Golson is exciting but he needs time to grow physcially and time to grow into his role.

For the rest of '11, it's Rees, Crist and Hendrix. And not necessarily in that order.

Switching to wr/rb, a position he has never played and re-learning it at the bottom of the depth chart would not help us win games.

The kid has talent at the QB position and he and ND are much better off with him competing for the starting position.. against whomever may be there.

These arguments are so stupid. A redshirt does not mean you suck, it does not mean there are 3 better qb's on the roster. Also, it is not like he will leave early for the pro's so saving a year is beneficial.

Thank you for putting some reason into your post! If this weekends game had not unfolded like it did in regards to the qb situation, this conversation would not be happening. The kid was one of the most prolific passers in high school football HISTORY! So you are not going to feed me that bullshit of he is not a good qb. Also if he wasnt going to be playing qb, dont you think he would have started to learn the new position by now? He will be the starting qb in the next few years.

Some of the stuff that gets written here makes my brain bleed. If I had more self discipline I would stay away from this board the entire week after a loss. Move Golson to running back?

Auburn is 93rd in the nation in total offense after finishing 7th last year. Florida's offense has stalled since Brantley got hurt even though other highly-touted QBs have taken over. Miami struggled while Harris was suspended. Oklahoma was lucky that they were able to replace a Heisman winning QB with another top QB. Your argument makes absolutely no sense because most teams take huge steps back when a new QB takes over.

Lol exactly. Makes wonder if some of these people watch any football other than ND. Perhaps that's also the reasoning for the "with all the talent we have" statements I read.

Texas
Auburn
Missouri
Va Tech
Florida

All top tier teams that have experienced major offensive woes trying to break in a new QB after losing a proven starter.

Hes got quicks, he will more then likely be a rb/wr kinda guy. If ND lands Gunner then that move is a given, and for Golson if he has any dreams of playing pro ball its the wise move to make.

No.

I think Golson should be focused on learning the "Call and Haul" style of playcalling Kelly wants to use though rather than the multiple checkdown system we use now. It would prepare him for when he may actually play (in a couple years or so).

you are trolling hard. he lit it up in high school. You cant play big time college ball being under 180 pounds he will get killed. There is a reason Hendrix is before him hes just not ready yet so we wont change his position. Btw quit calling people out on this board cause you disagree with a post.

We're not going to deal with this type of crap consistently from you anymore. Either learn to converse without being an a**, or find another site. Enjoy your vacation, and when you come back, do better...

Just watched a highlight video posted on Chris Brown's thread. Gotta say I had forgotten how good he looks. He's got an arm.

He's kinda a home boy with me, along with Councell, looking forward to see what he can do.

I just watched the same and I was actually just going to post on his thread. I am in no way a scout or an expert on qb video, BUT what am I missing here !??! The kid looks great. I watch his video and come away so impressed. He seems to make all the throws, can run but in no way chooses to run first. I honestly come away more impressed with his video than gunner's or any others I can think of at the moment.

I realize he's 6ft or WHATEVERRR.. But I see this kid as our future. Again can someone with more expertise than I tell me why I should relax hahah ??

Kelly gushes every time he talks about him. Golson is a player. Not concerned if we don't get a qb this year.

It's simple really. The Carolinas and Virginia have been underrated forever.... so lots of hidden gems come out of that area every year. Has a lot to do with the lack of self-promotion of those kids versus kids in, say, California, Texas, and Ohio.

So Everett Golson shows off awesome athleticism and arm strength but poor height and questionable accuracy at times (that doesn't show up in highlights...) so instead of getting the benefit of the doubt he ends up rated where he was. Which wasn't bad, but wasn't great. Zeke Pike is the greatest example I've ever seen of a kid with serious issues getting rated high because of his name/what it's perceived he "should" be.

According to Prister/Sampson back in the spring, Golson is not 6'0". He's probably more like 5'10".

Doesn't really matter. His potential is limitless in this offense. Give him speedy receivers and let him go to work.

im sorry but in college height is irrelevant, Ohio State's Troy Smith won the heisman and he was as short if not shorter than golson. bottom line, im pumped to see this kid come out and compete in the spring, wheather or not Gunner is competimg against him would just be icing on the cake

Troy Smith was a legit 6 ft, plus he wasn't as skinny as Golsen. Let him hit the weights first.

Troy smith is a good comparison to Golson I'd say. Pass first but can run.

Also it is very likely that he will still add a few inches in height since many males do not have growth spurts until their early twenties.

See Rodgers, Aaron. Was 5'11 going into Junior College and in a year or two reached 6'4".
