Depends on the job. Sales job? Probably true. For any job that requires any sort of technical knowledge, though, I don't think this is true at all.

I am sure it would help to be a former football star when applying for a sale's job, but that would be the case anywhere in the country. I guess people pay more attention to college football in the South, so it would arguably help more. Even so, the reason it would help you get the job is because your employer probably believes it actually helps you sell stuff.

Elite businesses in the South are not filled with former SEC players getting paid to do nothing. My guess is that the typical cushy job at the end of the rainbow is gym teacher. Here is a great example from reality. Remember the Alabama WR who caught the ball on the back of the DBs helmet...

Those two would make my day. Absolutely make it.

If we could get those guys, we would only have 17 verbals. But, how important are these verbals??

We need WR help--check-- Furgy, Brown, D-Green
We need CB/S--check-- help-Prosise, Tee, Darby, Baratti, Turner
We need QB help--check/if he would verbal--Gunner
We need RB depth/help--check--William and Marshall
We need Oline reinforcements--Check--Harrell and Decker
We need Dline help/reinforcements-Check-JONES and DAY
We need Linebacker help/reinforments--check--Romeo, maybe DE too?

If we can get Gunner and Marshall this will be a very special class.

What an awesome job thus far by our coaches and players in recruiting. Not ton of verbals, but how awesome are they? I think very awesome. We have super high rated guys at all of our position of need, except Linebacker. High rated skill guys, trench guys, backfield, DB's, etc.

I love it. These guys can make an impact for us right away. Just like Ben, Hercules, GAIII, Tuitt, Lynch have for us this year.

Gotta love it! Go Irish!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

If we landed Gunner and Marshall, my head would literally explode.

We need to land Gunner soon to even have a shot at Marshall, imo. Getting Gunner on board could lead to some major offensive prospects to turn their head.

^idk how set in stone that really is, remember, he's an 18 year old kid. But if i was a gambling man i'd say the odds are much more in favor of us getting Kiel than getting both He and Marshall

Fer sure. I am feeling pretty good about Gunner though. I don't have anything but hope that he could help us get Marshall, but I cant help to think that having a QB of Gunner's stature would certainly help us when talking to other elite offensive prospects.

This basically said nothing. Of course, if you were a wagering man, it would be easier to land ONE elite prospect versus throwing down stakes on TWO elite prospects ultimately signing with the Irish. Thanks Captain Obvious.

I just don't see why anyone would want to share reps as a RB?

If he goes to Georgia Crowell will shine over him..

If he goes to ND he shines with our team and is a star that ND, and the press has been waiting for....

You don't think Jonas and Cierre work as a duo?

A dual back system is what the position has evolved into.. even in the NFL. RBs take a beating worse than any other position on the field.

And split reps with the likes of Mahone, Roberson, and/or Atkinson. He'll be the feature back here, but he certainly won't be the only one. The days of the back that rushes 30 times in a game are extinct.

And any college back that has any aspirations to play at the next level should want about half that many carries. Football players - especially RBs - only have a certain number of plays in them. Don't want to use too many up before you get a chance to make some money.

Hopefully he will realize that Mark Ritch will be on the hot seat again next year. The odds of Ritch still being the HC when Marshall graduates are not great.

Not that I disagree with you at all... But just to play devils advocate, how quickly do u see Kelly on the hot seat if he has another 8-4 season next year? (I deff wouldn't, I trust Kelly and Co.) but unfortunately I could see it happening. Hopefully I'm way off here, but Marshall could think that way as well

Swarbrick is definitely behind Kelly. He, and they both know, that the former changing of regime has been part of the attrition behind our program the last 20 years. Kelly is changing the culture of the football program and it will take time. There are already so many gains (in my opinion) that you can't even think about firing Kelly. It would just be insane.

I'm with you on this one. In my honest opinion, I think Kelly is definently the right guy for the job. I think there is no argument that he has recruited well and is doing a good job of changing the players attitude and approach to playing football. We were playing soft and many kids never fulfilled their true potential under previous regimes. Brian Kelly can make a 2 star kid into a superstar and I have nothing but faith in him and what he will do for the program. It takes time and nothing changes overnight. Changing perceptions and getting guys to play a tougher brand of football as a team is a challenge but I think he is handeling things pretty well.

....damnit I have to spread them....who wants em??!!!

Who here really thinks KM will commit when he reaches 10,000 tweets? I personally don't. I think it is just to see how many people will follow his tweet count biting their nails. If he does then jokes on me. Come to South Bend Keith!

Have you seen next year's record? 8-4 wouldn't be bad at all especially considering we lose some big time guys after this year.
