Dunno if this was in the game thread or not, but the former 5 star RB is off the team, but still going to U$C.

Word is that he will most likely end up at San Diego State, but Michigan could be a possibility.

From all the crap he's pulled from his recruitment through brief stint at U$C, he is better suited for a mid-major. That kid is a bad egg.

Listen to Steelhead. He's clearly had a lot of personal interaction to make his judgment by.

Hope he gets his life sorted out.

Well lets see

He lied about his recruitment in an attempt to make other schools look bad
He failed a drug test
His attitude was so pi$$poor even Kiffin suspended him

I don't think "deep personal conversations" are needed to see this kid is a bad egg. I agree his life has time to change, but a duck is a duck at this point.

Nice duck reference!

I remember Baxter's recruitment.

He has so much talent.

But you can't send a "duck" to "eagle" school. ;)

Didnt suit up for the ND game because his girlfriend was having a kid. So whatever academic issue they are saying is a crock of crap. Good luck to this very talented kid.

According to OC Register, he is still going to classes and wants to still play at USC. This was according to his step dad and has no intentions of transferring at this point in time.

Maybe if he gets his life in order they give him a second chance?

You are dead wrong. This kid is not a bad kid, just that he is very immature. It is not like he strangled his girlfriend, was caught drinking and driving or was charged with aggravated stalking . You can probably guess which players I am referring to, all of which did not get kicked off the team.

If he missed suiting up for the game because his girlfriend was having his child, it's the USC Trojans that need to get their priorities straight.

Sounds like he needs an introduction to Trojan Man. In his defense, maybe Kiffen told him being a Trojan was enough to prevent pregnancy. Wouldn't be the douchiest thing he's ever done.

So nothing I mentioned actually happened?

No, you are. This thread is about Dillon Baxter, who is a BAD EGG, not seed.

From a non-scholarly source I found, wisegeek.com, relevent:
When someone is referred to as a bad egg, it means that he or she has turned out to be bad, despite early signs of being a decent person. Terms like “bad apple” and “bad seed” are also used in the same way. The term often comes with an implication that the individual in question does not have a chance at redemption; like a rotten egg, he or she is simply bad to the core.

What is a Bad Egg?

So yeah. Ketchup / Catsup.

Nonetheless, he's not coming to ND and he's no longer a homerun threat to gameplan against.

Now we look forward to Farmer and Woods. SMH

maybe because I have been burned too many times in the past, but I need to see it with my own eyes, and with this kid, I dont see it......dont believe the hype

this kid has already played his best football and it was in high school.

if you remember when this kid came into USC, he was caught up in a lie where over-zealous Mike Garrett even went to bat for him, then it was revealed that the kid was lying.

put this kid into the Masoli category of "never to make any type of impact in football again"

KIffen thinks he is still in the NFL. First Armstead, and now Baxter. Word is if he doesn't feel a kid "fits" he will make the situation such that the kid will want to transfer.

Looks better than cutting them I suppose

This could get ugly, per ESPN:

Former USC running back Dillon Baxter decided to stay on campus and continue his studies after leaving the program. There was some discussion he may transfer, but that hasn't materialized. Now, the football team wants to respond.

"The coaches want the scholarship back," a high-ranking USC official told Scott Wolf of the Los Angeles Daily News.

The main reason why this could become a sticky situation is the scholarship limitations currently placed on USC by the NCAA. Every one counts, even the ones not being used by former athletes.

Kiifin doing whatever it takes... I hope the kid fights to keep it.

I see how much they care about their athletes and the sad part is I'm not really suprised.

The guy is no longer playing football. What makes him still deserve a scholarship?

Maybe it gets ugly enough that Baxter comes out with some info regarding his recruitment? AY? AY?

USC can kiss my tail!

Like Beau said, if he isn't playing football, why should he have a football scholarship?

Why would that help USC. Maybe I'm oblivious to a simple fact here but the 85 scholarship number is irrelevant. The penalty is that he can only sign 15 recruits a year for the next three years is it not? Even if they revoke Baxter's scholly, that would not be able to sign an extra player.... I think.
