Why would that help USC. Maybe I'm oblivious to a simple fact here but the 85 scholarship number is irrelevant. The penalty is that he can only sign 15 recruits a year for the next three years is it not? Even if they revoke Baxter's scholly, that would not be able to sign an extra player.... I think.

I think the scholarship limit was also reduced to 75 over the next three years.

They can sign early enrollees for last years class. Look for USC to sign 17-18 players. 2-3 in the spring which counts from last year and 15 for this year. If I remember correct they under signed a few counting towards last year and a non qualifier in Dillion would allow them to do this.

Not sure what the surprise is here. If you're on a football scholarship and aren't playing football, why would you get the scholarship? I'm pretty sure if Tuitt decided he didn't want to play he wouldn't have a scholarship for the next three years, just as I wouldn't have expected Yeatman to keep his after being kicked off the team. This isn't a case of Alabama oversigning and then yanking scholarships.

Like Beau said, if he isn't playing football, why should he have a football scholarship?

Former USC running back Dillon Baxter decided to stay on campus and continue his studies after leaving the program.

I suspect SC's quandry is they're not used to a football player going to class and aren't sure how to report it.

I agree with you and Beau. I assume he tuition was already paid for this semester. There will be no check for the next one.
