What I was impressed with was his ability to pass cover in those special camps with the elite receivers. Many plays I thought that he was the only defensive player who had his man properly shut down. This is the sort of slightly smaller but more agile and fast-closing LB that I have been blathering on about [in terms of a change of philosophy in LBs] on this board. Whether his skills translate better into edge crash+flat coverage or middle blitz+midfield coverage will be up to smarter coaches than I to decide. And, any "offensive stats" this senior year are irrelevant... and the staff will see right through that.

Add-on note: we seem to be thinking of "perkins-like" outside linebacking when facing the triple option. Note the playing of Slaughter there vs Air Force, and his effectiveness. Perkins seems made for this to me.

I agree with this but am concerned about his ability to cover a slot receiver on the PA pass.

Interesting thought, OMM. Could very well be the case.

He's got the speed. Some good coaching and he'll be fine.

I like how you think OMM. Perkins is good mixture between a LB and a Safety right now. I think you could be on to something.

I talked to David at school today and he said he is going to the USC game. He will be with all of the other recruits and they are gonna hang out after the game. I told him to recruit the other kids hard and these were his exact words..."We're gonna recruit our a$$es off". I LOVE IT!!!

Whenever I read your posts I hear them in my head in the voice of a young Ben Stiller.

I support this notion.

I thought Ben Stiller was hilarious in "Theres Something About Mary". Especially the part when he got his "thing" stuck in the zipper

**off topic alert** (I anticipate this being deleted, just want to throw it out there for now)

Stiller's best role was in The Royal Tenenbaums. In just about every other role, I find him too awkward to enjoy. I get the appeal, it just isn't for me. (note: his cameo in Happy Gilmore is unquestionably legendary)

Its the second round of sectionals tonight and we are playing Hobart. David ran 95 yards for a touchdown to make it 14-0. Go Panthers!
