This is the game this week that I'm most interested in, and I can see it going either way. Sparty opened a 3 point favorite, and the line is down to 2 or 2.5.

I don't think UM is as good as MSU, and a few weeks ago I thought MSU would roll. But now my gut feeling is that this is the Wolverines' lucky year with their schedule and the way they beat us. I hope MSU wins and I'd loved for them to end up in the top 20, so I don't have to hear about how ND hasn't beat a team that ended in the Top 25 for so many years.

Should be a good game though.

What's good about it? Sparty is a bunch of douche bags and scUM is an even bigger bunch of douche bags! Why do you think this game is called the Douche Bowl? That being said, yeah, I'd like to see Sparty kick the ever-living dog crap out of scUM! I truly HATE those *#&@&@#s more than U$C, O$U and F$U combined!!!

This is one of the few situations where I can sit back and enjoy one of our opponents losing without effecting our strength of schedule overly negatively.

Allows me to revert to more primal metrics. Like my seething hatred of Michigan > my moderate disdain for Sparty, all flag planting moments aside.

According to Football Outsiders' S&P, Michigan (5th in offense and 43rd in defense) is a pretty equal match up for State (38th in offense and 11th in defense).

My intuition is that State is a more balanced and all-around better team. The only question is if they can stop the Denard show. Here's hoping they do.

If they can pick Denard off once or twice and score, they will win.. Otherwise I just see him scrambling around to another win.

It's ridiculous how dependent they are on him..

They shut down his scrambling last year and Robinson tossed three interceptions.

Robinson has thrown 9 interceptions in the last 5 weeks. I guarantee he throws at least one Saturday.

I'm taking MSU to win at home over U of M. Michigan State had a rough outing against Notre Dame, but proved to be an important contendor in the BIG 10 with their win over Ohio State. I think MSU is simply a better team. This could be the first time MSU beat the U of M 4 times in a row since 1959-1962 for the Paul Bunyan Trophy. That could be a huge game for in state recruits.

Defense beats offense. MSU wins, probably not, because they are beat up all over the place.

This. I don't think they're going to be able to run the ball well with their beat up OL and I don't think they have a good enough defense to actually shut down Michigan. We'll see what happens. I fully expect some more questionable reffing in favor of Michigan.

Last I checked, BK was scared to play ball. Sorry if you hate it but its the truth. We match best against pro style teams and I saw that at the start. BK may have not but come on.... we should have dominated MSu. They suck. I pick MU to roll hard! Hoke will do what BK did not and that is let his OFF do what they do!

??? 18 point win.....

What Michigan does is interception, interception, underthrown deep pass for 80 yards. I agree we will see much more of that.

After Air Force, I'm confident BK will not be letting off the gas.

BK hasn't had the luxury of playing Western/Eastern Michigan, San Diego St, Minnesota and Northwestern...

Hokes offense is DENARD and only DENARD right now.. Letting his "OFF do what they do" is letting Denard run wild on sh!tty teams.

BK is implementing a complex offense and doesn't have all his prototypical players in place to let it fully flourish.

Last I checked you were not coaching Notre Dame Football and therefore realistically have no idea of the intricacies of BKs program development. Also, I'd have to assume the last time you checked was sometime before the AFA game?

Yup! Last time I checked it was before AF game. BK didn't let the team play. Before last week, weren't you guys saying the same thing? Most of you that is? I can't speak for everyone, I will agree.

And who cares if their offense is let DR go, it beat us! One week is not going to make me think BK will let this offense get after it. The offense FINALLY scored when they were suppose to. By all means, I hope they continue. Dink and dunk passes that we have done for 5 out of 6 games, for majority, is why I say what I say. Disagree? Read threads for weeks 1-5. You will remember.

What in the hell does me not coaching at ND have anything to do with it? Do you know what BK is doing? I'm not sure if you coach or not at ND but if you don't, can you make that statement?

I didn't say BK won't let us get after it for good reason. I just said he won't. Maybe he will now. We showed we can score when given the chance. For now, I will take the first 5 weeks as my deciding factor over the last 1.

We're coming off two of the best all-around ND victories in recent memories, and yet posts like dboe's are still popping up with disturbing frequency.

I understand the defense mechanism-- many ND fans are afraid of high expectation because they've been let down so many times in the past. But if you insist on spouting your negativity on this board, at least make sure it's coherent and defensible.

Clearly, we lost the first two games because Kelly was "afraid to play ball." Kelly is the Manchurian candidate!

This is my game to watch this weekend with the Irish on a bye. I am conflicted on the outcome I'm looking for. Yeah, it makes me sick that UM is 6-0 with a cupcake schedule and getting lucky against Notre Dame. UM is way overdue for a loss.

However, a win for MSU, especially against an undefeated team, puts them way ahead of the Irish in the rankings. The low-hanging fruit teams in the 20-25 spots are the teams that we need to see start losing to create some space for the Irish. Tough call, but short of seeing them both lose, I guess I'd rather see the Spartans take the win and put an end to the cosmic joke that is a 6-0 Michigan.

I'm a student at Michigan and the arrogance and condescending 'big brother' comments are enough to make me root for State. They also need a loss to deflate their egos some. Dare I say it? Go Sparty!
