If you aren't going to pay for any subscriptions (like me), then I think Irish Envy is far and away the best site to go to for info. Even if you do pay (like I have done in the past), then I still think IE is the best. A lot of good posters on here sharing info, insight, and opinions. And for the most part, relatively troll-less.

Yea as far as Thomas goes, i really liked his film. That catch in the back corner of the endzone in double coverage was real nice

I had the same thought. I wish I knew more about proper running technique. I suspect Kelly's staff looks at some of these guys and thinks, "He could be really fast with some coaching."

I am no coach but I played small time college ball and ran middle-distance college track. My experience brought me to the same feelings. My cousin and I watch all the films that people post on recruits on IE and I say the same thing to him. If these kids learn how to really run properly, they can be super explosive. Like I said I'm no expert but I played receiver and I ran the 3k steeplechase all the way down to the 400 and I wasn't a speed guy just really knew how to run. I also am a huge track fan and watch a lot of track. I see tons of potential IMHO.

Just so this is an honest debate, Mahone is a 3 star unranked RB on 24/7 while he is a 4 star top 15 RB on all the others.

Yeah, let's be serious... no site gets it "right" while others get it "wrong"... it's simply a question of preference and I tend to like the insight from 247's staff/their rating system the best.

And not to be a hater on Mahone (because I like him a lot and love his quickness through the hole/toughness/strength), but I can totally see the rationale for both rating him highly and lowly. He lacks elite speed and doesn't have the size to be a true power back. But, in my opinion, his production and tape doesn't lie... he hits the hole hard and gets to top speed very quickly. He will be a very necessary piece of our team moving forward if Cam Roberson doesn't recover.

Also, in the essence of fairness, I want to point out that last year 247 was still very fledgling and didn't evaluate many prospects. So their product is still quite "fresh" and it's really hard to say whether they are better or worse than the other services.

He isn't coming this weekend anymore. Official will be for the banquet after the season per ISD and Rivals. This is probably a good sign overall, but I wish he was coming this weekend.

How many recruits come for the banquet that don't sign with ND, though? Now if he cancels a third time, that's one thing. There's the possibility he is stringing the staff along to keep his spot. But I think if he is actually intent on coming to the banquet, he sees himself coming to ND.

Right, and I'm sure you read the post earlier about him being super excited to come up this weekend and how the schedule worked out perfectly because his team was playing on Thursday and how his mom was super excited... and then he abruptly cancels within 24 hours.

The post also mentions that there is one spot left and it is "his if he wants it" so either someone beat him to the punch (doubtful), he's a silent (reasonable chance) or he's taking a chance holding out on his commitment (possible).

Going to be very interesting now to see if we end up with Brown, Thomas, both or neither.

I don't think Russell's a "make room regardless" type of recruit. If the staff knew his verbal would be incoming, I bet we'd see something similar to Schutt-gate: Thomas would be given an ultimate, and we'd end up with one or the other.

I agree. I'm super high on Treggs (no surprise, as my love for 7ON heroes isn't exactly a secret). Here's hoping that the USC game blows both Thompson and Treggs away so they both flip together.

Yeah. His quotes on ISD lead me to this theory (just my opinion): He was 100% coming to ND this weekend for the officially, but felt he would be pressured or cornered into committing in the presence of the coaches riding the high of the visit, especially with recently being told there is only 1 spot left. My take is the Irish are the unquestioned leader, but Thomas just simply isn't ready to commit yet.

I take this as an admirable move on his part, as I know he wants to take other visits to be 100% on whatever school he chooses, which will lead to a sense of calm and confidence in the chosen school. I wish more recruits were like this - it would ease both their and our lives during the season.

Wow this is big news. Was really thinking he would visit this weekend and commit. I guess going to the banquet is a good sign. I guess we'll see what happens. Just hope there is still a slot for him.
