Gray sucks. He is an athlete that can run with receivers. Sucks at playing the ball this year. Three games in a row he was in perfect coverage and did not turn around. USF pass interference in the end zone on third down. He turns around no interference. Michigan terrible at playing the ball and do I need to remind you he didnt cover the wheel. I mean come on they were in quarters and he went o the inside. I have never seen a hs kid do this. That was really bad. Agaianst MSU gave up a big 1st. Down. But D front protected him more. So is this is the type of corner Kelly wants two or three of...we are screwed.

Who will be the starting defensive backs next year? Will it be Lo Wood and Tee Shepard? Or will Bennet Jackson prove to everyone that that he can play? I think it will be Lo Wood And Tee Shepard with Jackson playing in the nickel and dime defenses. It will definately be interesting to see who will be starting next year in Dublin, Ireland

Gray had a really bad game against Michigan, but I'm not sure what you can do in that situation. We have no depth, well, no experience behind Gray and Blanton at corner. Lo Wood or Bennet Jackson need to be getting some reps for next year. If not them, who else can provide coverage? Maybe keep Jamoris at safety and let Motta play soft coverage with help over the top? I dunno. It's a bad position. Gray has played well up till this year, not sure what happened two weeks ago.

As to getting the back-ups some reps: The staff has said that Lo Wood is much further along than Jackson, but Lo has been hurt. Josh Atkinson has apparently emerged as the next possible option, but that doesn't seem too wise this early in his career either. The lack of experienced depth there has gotten Kelly to say that if we really did need to substitute at corner Slaughter would fill in with Motta getting the full time at safety.

I'm not gonna jump on the hate train yet. But his performance after 3 games isn't good. He is an excellent tackler and reads everything in front of him well, its the downfield thing he is having problems with. I personally thought he would make a good safety with his size and tackling ability, don't be suprised if he is converted to one at the next level.

I'm literally watching the MSU replay right now. I'm into the second quarter and he has played a very good game so far.

He played a C- game against USF.
He played a F game again Michigan.
He played a A- game against MSU. There have been at least 3 or 4 really good plays he has made so far in this half. And the one time he got beat by Cunningham it was great coverage and a spectacular catch.

For a guy to single handidly cost his team a game he sucks. All he has to do is make one of those plays and it is most likely game over. He made Denard the player of the week on ESPN. Wish I could play against Gray. Just lob balls up there and my receivers make the play all day.

Gary missed one tackle that it would have been nice to have, but heck, so did Manti. The pass interference call was a bad call as both Spielman and Meyer said. So, yes, Gary was fine---Robert actually missed more tackles and he's usually great at it. Both were fine and we only gave up one TD, so it couldn't have been shabby. Graham is going to make anyone miss once in a while.

Really glad to see you post that statement. From your earlier posts, I really expected to see you post something like 'I told you so'. Good for you to man-up on that. I agree he needs to improve his field presence and look more towards the ball and I think it is his timing the coaches should work with him on.

When I criticized Gray after the Michigan game I was very pissed. But when I'm lucid, I know that cornerback is probably the second hardest position to play in football and I know that Gray is very good. He has had some bad moments but I'm sure he'll make up for them with some big ones later on.

Good to see you come down and look at it from a different perspective. I know sometimes on here I sound passive and proactive at the same time. I have to be sometimes as a referree and a fan. I believe some get so passionate and mad at the same time, thier heart and brain conflict. No one likes to lose and no one likes thier players to make mistakes especially dumb ones. But after playing, coaching, and now being a ref, I know things happen and not always for the good.

Gray did the same thing as he did in the Michigan game (doesn't look for the ball when its in the air). How about that play when Pitt had like a 30 yard pass down the middle and 2 of ND's players didn't look for the ball. It should of been completed but the receiver dropped it. Looked awfully like some of the passes that Robinson was completing in week 2.

That pass today down the middle was bad. It was Zeke Motta and I think Gary Gray. The only player to go for the ball was the pit receiver. We had two defenders there and he almost got it. Really bad coverage at locating the ball and knocking it away. I really don't think we practice that enough.
