If we join a Conference does that make our September schedule less nut cracking?

I didn't say I wanted to Join a conference, but if the Landscape dictates we do so, does this mean we don't have to wear a Kevlar Cup in September?

Joining a conference will change Notre Dame's identity, which it has been cultivating for over 100 years. If Notre Dame could help effectuate a national conference I could accept that, but that seems unlikely.

You'd play the 3 teams in your pod, and two of the four in the other pods every year. That would be nine games. Three OOC games and the top two teams (from different pods) play a conference championship game. Obviously there would be an unbalanced schedule, but I don't see how you'd avoid that in a 16 team league.

I would put the chances of something like that happening at about 2%. Otherwise, I'd much rather stay independent.

Screw Baylor. Texas a&m has every right to better themselves.

I think it's because of the possibility of super-conferences and Baylor perhaps being left out of the alignment. But yeah, you're right. If the Big 12 says A & M can leave, Baylor needs to mind their own business.

The Texas legislature still has to speak on the subject, no?

I like this thinking...but I gotta admit, when I say "like"...its really being forced to choose between the lesser of two evils. I have always been, and will always be for ND remaining independent. However, I can see where the chain reaction from A&M could lead to super conferences...and the result is logisitcal issues, not the least of which is extreme difficulty for any of our normal foes scheduling outside their conference...so what choice would we have...

Until I finish my real work, I'm not available to run for office, and subsequently go henry waxman on everyone, smash the BCS, and force restructure of the entire NCAA, including this super conference nightmare...so its medicine I'll have to take...for now ;).

**** conferences.

Until they say we don't get an automatic bid anymore, I couldn't care less what these morons do.

Unfortunately once there becomes super conferences, Notre Dame will have no choice but to join one to stay relevant I believe.

Looking like this is almost "officially" official with WVU slated to probably be team #14. My WVU alum coworker says: "Perfect fit with our strong academics, tradition of civilized and intelligent fans, and student athletes who keep their noses clean."

Report: Deal reached, A&M to SEC

Huge fan of the site, I've been on here as a guest for over a year and just now started an account. Born and raised under the eyes of Touchdown Jesus. I go to purdue (insert joke here) and work as an intern with the football team which tears at my heart strings everyday haha. Personally, I think Baylor is trying to stop the inevitable, and I applaud A&M for sticking up to Texas

Texas just kept wanting more and more and I hope they are happy they have caused a entire conference to break down.

If Oklahoma indeed joins the PAC 12 south who would join the north? My guess would be Boise or maybe nevada

I'm with ya SBjandy,

Texas has done this to themselves and A & M deserve credit for standing up to them.

As it has been speculated (aside from OU) who is next?

I confused as to were Texas will land after all this. What conference is going to take them and allow them to run their network like the big 12 is currently. I see advertisement all over the place for ordering their network. Could this force UT to independent?

What would have to happen for the Big 12 to lose their BCS autobid?

If Texas can surf into the BCS through a seven team conference for the next four years (or however long the waiting period before conference re-evaluations) then I think they will stay in the Big 12 no matter who leaves.

I may be an idiot, wait, no I am an idiot. But why is it OU can freely leave for the PAC 10/12/14 when Tech can't leave for the SEC? And how can a university sue if another leaves the conference?

Doubtfull Boise st goes to the PAC 12. Boise has never wanted to join a BCS conference and I don't see that changing.

Possabilities for the PAC 12: Nevada, Oklahoma State, San diego State, Colorado State.
