I think that mullet is on too tight. IT is definitely messing with your brain.

So then does it induce Oedipus complex?

Weird.

Here is a scene from the squidbillies that I remember making me laugh, it reminds me of your mullet. Enjoy..

Earlie Cuyler: Toodly do! Them hippies show up?
Rusty: They out back. Daddy why they come up here every week?
Earlie Cuyler: Here you go, boy. I bought you a video game
[gives Rusty a bucket with sponge & soap]
Rusty: You did?
Earlie Cuyler: Hell no. Wash them trucks. But you leave the boat to me. Don't you touch that sumbitchin' boat. A boat is not a toy. Thank you. The boat is mine. THE BOAT IS MINE!

No...but Beau and Johnny can make me a sandwich, and bring me a whiskey and coke on the rocks with a coaster, and then remain silent while the game is on. ;)

Atta girl!

Yuo're right, I have gotten into it with posters. I'm a poster/Irish fan first. I love the discussions/arguments. But I try to keep it about the argument, not the poster. I try not to get personal. If I get personal, by all means, call me out on it. But I don't believe I do.

If I am correct, you didn't even get through your next paragragh.

I didn't start a new thread crying about it. That's what babies do. I knew I was in the wrong, so I accpeted it and moved on.

Were you referring to Johnny starting this thread? Because that is what he is talking about. I know things are super busy, and we haven't made your life very easy as a mod, but these types of posts are combative. If he took this spat between you to pm, and came out of it banned, then I think that is not fair.

I have been wanting to ask you this, LA. Do you like being a mod? I ask because while you do a tremendous job at it, it seems to be a bit overwhelming for you. Because of idiotic posts (some even made by Johnny and myself, regrettably of course), you seem to have to write several angry rebuttals a day, defending your decisions. I wouldnt want to be in your shoes for this reason. If this is the case, and you are truly sick of it, maybe you should take a break? Life is too short to get overwhelmed by moderator duties of a website. Plus, I like reading your posts better when you are just talking about ND football instead of having to deal with all of our stupid antics.

I predict that this site will simmer down significantly come September 3rd. Maybe we will just have to ride the storm out until then.

ps - If this post goes over the sensitivity line, let me know and i'll delete it. I'm not trying to call anyone out, just trying to add meaningful insight to an argument that simply is not going away.

If we have any losses like Michigan State we may all need a week banning after the fallout from last year.

I'm seriously thinking about screwing myself into / out of a year or so.

What's it take to get a year, mods?

De-committing.

Or the Cubs winning the WS.

But I don't think you have to worry about the latter. :smilewink

Just read through this whole thread.

1. People need to be more civil for the most part. Act like you are talking to someone in person. Most people would never say the things said on this site to other posters.

2. People need to sack up a little bit. People are way to sensitive these days.

3. Follow the rules, and if we are supposed to take it to PMs, these should be no holds barred. But, you should only be able to send one PM to a person unless he has replied then you can send the second. Bans should be made for people who will send multiple negative PMs to one person.

I come here to get great info from you guys. Most of the people here are amazing. Was very surprised to see Dshans get banned but I would say it was deserved from what I read on here.

GO IRISH!!!!

Especially the newbs who just ask questions. Answer the question and move on. It doesn't need 12 "witty" posts about it. Notice the quotation marks, they are there for a reason.

Where are all these posts abusing noobs who asked innocent questions? I wasn't involved in the "ND Lake Trip = Miami" thread that got Bogtrotter banned, so I'll grant that one for the sake of argument.

Other than that, I can recall only three noobs who have been called out recently, and each one of them deserved it.

This community is generally very noob-friendly.

Don't have that kinda time man. It would take forever cause I would have to go through a lot of threads to find them.

Either way, be civil. Argue with solid points.

Take your own advice. You cant accuse the rest of us for abusing noobs when you dont have any examples to substantiate your position. If you dont have time to backup your accusation, then dont make it. So as you said, "argue with solid points".

First off let me say I didn't read many posts past page 1, but here is my input as an avid poster/fan of this site... and someone who moderates a number of different forums:

1. It's ****ing ridiculous that a veteran poster attacking two of the best new people on this site caused this. Neut was one of my first buddies here and a solid dude... I don't understand what made him go off like that for no reason but it was completely inexcusable. We have now lost (at least) our 2 best new posters and 3 of our best veteran posters.

2. What makes it so ridiculous is that it should NEVER have happened. Mods, this is on you. Yes... it's an unpaid thankless job. Yes... it's very hard to toe the line. But here's a pro tip: when someone starts going off like that, do not pussy foot around with PMs and telling them to settle down... hit them immediately with a 12/24 hour ban. This is almost 100% effective in stopping situations before they get to huge-****ing-meltdown level.

3. There are some really, really good posters on this site. There are a lot of intelligent people to debate things with. That's why I like it. It's better than the cess pool of NDNation or the the CoachD dictatorship that is ISD Member board (don't get me wrong, I love the guy, but I feel too often people cave to his train of thought... but that's neither here nor there). I personally know that I will debate hotly and/or use colorful language of times. But DON'T get personal with insults and DON'T come after someone's personal information if they don't want to give it to you. The cardinal rule of the Internet is annonymity... no one owes you a freaking thing besides the text of their post and associated Big Lebowski avatar. The two "blow ups" I have seen on here can both be directly attributed to people crossing that line. There is no need to "keep it real" online. Keep it fake. And deal with it.

Alright that's all. Quite preachy, I know. But it pisses me off when something like this happens when it's so avoidable. Have a good weekend IE Nation.

I think they will be back when the season starts and there are more things to talk about. Seems like tensions are awfully high.

I love the board, but ND more. Anybody that's on here (except trolls) is a friend. I've been tempted to respond to negative posts but generally don't because it will only escalate and let's face it, it's a message board, how caught up can you get? Go mow the yard or watch Rudy and get a grip.

Ha ha...no, I wasn't talking about johnny (he didn't start this thread because he was banned), nor any ONE poster. There have actually been about 3-4 people who have done that, and those people are no longer with this site. I wouldn't say that about a current poster.

I have been wanting to ask you this, LA. Do you like being a mod? I ask because while you do a tremendous job at it, it seems to be a bit overwhelming for you. Because of idiotic posts (some even made by Johnny and myself, regrettably of course), you seem to have to write several angry rebuttals a day, defending your decisions.I predict that this site will simmer down significantly come September 3rd. I do like being a mod. I wouldn't say it's always enjoyable of course, but it's worth it because of the posters here who have thanked us mods and jpham through PM about what a great site it is. Being able to talk and read about Irish football amongst Irish fans and 'friends' without being bagged on or cyber-bullied like you see on other sites makes this job absolutely worth it.

And this site will certainly NOT simmer down in the season. A loss or something dramatic WILL happen. Trolls will show up. And I've been on this site long enough to know that when the sh!t hits the fan, the same guys who rail about the rules will be the ones starting the most crap. Think about it wooly...if a guy can't handle himself when there's no drama, what's he going to do when BK makes a wrong call, or when Crist throws a pick, or when Cierre Wood fumbles, or when someone decommits? All of this will happen during the season, and if a poster can't handle a simple thread being closed, how in the hell is he going to handle Irish football?

Listen, to be honest, I think all this crap is like High School Musical. It's a big drama, for absolutely nothing. I think people take this stuff way too seriously. To me it's simple...post responsibly, and you're fine. Almost everyone gets it. And then there are about 5-6 people who don't get it, and they become they vocal minority, trying to bring down 'the man' (LaughOuteffingLoud). When in reality, the mods are Notre Dame fans just like you. I've banned (temporarily mind you) 3 people in probably the past 8 months. It just so happens that it has happened fairly recently. Of course, now I'm the big bad mod with the power-trip, when in reality it couldn't be further from the truth. Seriously, it's laughable. You won't find a more easy-going guy than me. But whatever, those 5-6 people can think what they want.

ps - If this post goes over the sensitivity line, let me know and i'll delete it. I'm not trying to call anyone out, just trying to add meaningful insight to an argument that simply is not going away.

Your post is absolutely fine.

Well towards the end of the Neutered fiasco GBDomer wrote to him basically saying "I'm done posting here, you win."

I saw him posting for about a week after and not since.

Frye?....Frye?....Frye?

Yea, GB told me he was going on "vacation" for a while. I've seen a post from him a couple times sense, but that's it.
