USC veterans think Amir Carlisle is top freshman in training camp - WeAreSC Forums

What a bummer. In my opinion, with our lack of depth at RB, this is the biggest miss of our last cycle.

Could've really used him and Savon this year...

Carlisle probably would have been a great get but right now neither he nor Atkinson haven't taken a hit much less had to deal with an audible when the defense shifted into an all out blitz in live action. I'm not sure at this point that we missed out.

Atkinson ran for over 1600 yds last year. He rushed for over 9 ypc in back to back years with over 20 ypc on the receiving side. His team didn't have a very good defense and they got pounded twice by DeLa Salle last year 52-7 and 49-10. He had 2 carries for 5 yds in the first game and 15 for 69 yds in the second. His team only has 190 Total Yards in the first game and 166 in the second. In the playoff game George had 86 of his teams 166 Total Yards or 52%. He also played defense and returned kickoffs.

Who said he will play? Aren't like 47 of their scholarship players running backs and wide receivers?

Guy is going to get crushed by our defense. Poor kid.

Not so fast my friend. Were you saying this when he almost committed to ND? Most of us wanted him badly. Now he is at USC and he's doing extremely well. Last night was their first night in full pads and he had like 80 yards in 10 carries. Kid can play. Now, does he fumble? Can he pick up blitzes? Not sure, but from a talent standpoint, him having such a good opening week, and him being such a great kid by all accts over there (they're not used to that) makes me pissed that we didn't land him (mostly b/c he wants to act).

Who said he will play? Aren't like 47 of their scholarship players running backs and wide receivers?

You're thinking of the old USC. Right now they have Tyler (suspended), Baxter, Morgan, and 'Moody' (always a question mark because of grades), and Buck Allen (freshman not even on campus yet b/c of NCAA Clearinghouse issues). He absolutely has a chance to play. Essentially, what you are saying is exactly like someone saying 'who cares' if Cam McDaniel was tearing it up for ND.

Haha--of course not. I was hoping we'd get either (or both) Amir or Savon, and we know that didn't happen. Do I want our team to hurt the kid? Nah. Rue his college choice? Maybe ;) It's a good thing USC has good academics, too.

Dude, where does this come from? I really don't understand your point. After I made one smart comment, are you extrapolating an entire philosophy and psychology then trying to smack me down and chastise me?

How was that chastising you? Grow some thicker skin; I'm definitely not out to get you here. I was merely pointing about that your take on the RB situation was wrong, and that he could definitely play.

Now, I will say that I thought you said 'who cares' about Amir, when in fact you said:

Who said he will play? Aren't like 47 of their scholarship players running backs and wide receivers?

I don't know where I got the 'who cares' part from, so that last line was misplaced, but I still wasn't in any way chastising you. And I stand by everything else I said in that post. USC isn't nearly as deep as you think, and Amir has a real chance to see some time...

Yes.. but not in a threatening way. Just in a hurt his pride, make him wanna quit, reconsider his decisions, contemplate switching to baseball, shudder everytime he sees the color green and break down and cry everytime he hears the name NOTRE DAME kinda way. Just sayin...

Watching the USC / Colorado game and Amir is getting quite a bit of playing time. I must say, the kid is really fast and extremely shifty. Really bummed he chose the condoms over the Irish.

Byron Marshall reminded me some of Amir.

I loved Byron.

We "missed" on Byron.

I'd love to have Amir.
