Steele,
I am going to assume that you have not watched this kids highlight films or his play during UA All-Star week. Because you would not be asking this question if you did. This kid will be an absolute stud at ND. He has the size of Rudolph, but actually better speed.

The only issue he faces is a depth chart with 3 really good TE's at ND. This is good because he will have time to grow and learn. Effiert, Ragone and Welch will dominate the play in 2011. However, Ragone will be gone after 2011, so Koyack will get his turn as a Soph.

Actually I was able to catch a few highlight clips of him, of course he was a man among boys, but please do not compare high school to the next level, who knows if mentally he can compete at a premier level. Just speculating, I hope you're not implying that I have no access to know who is coming into ND's system or have seen or heard of them. I was just simply asking a question, but if you insist on insulting me or questioning anything else.. Thats kinda sad....

Seeing as how Kelly has already mentioned that he will likely play this year, and given the depth already at tight end....yeah I think he's going to be scary good.

Rivals: :s::s::s::s:, #7 TE, 82nd Nationally (Reminds Us of: Greg Olson)
247: :s::s::s::s:, #4 TE, 66th Nationally
ESPN: :s::s::s::s:, #3 TE, 77th Nationally
Scout: :s::s::s::s::s:, #1 TE

As you can see, Koyack is a major project. Probably never sees the field.

I know ND is definitely known for producing top notch tight-ends, recently Rudolph and Carlson, does anyone see Koyack's ability to be a very serious threat in the near future?
You left out Fasano

Koyack also got rave reviews at the U of A practice and game...Kid is real!

Z,
If you have seen the highlight, know how highly he is rated, saw the All-Star game in which he was playing and practicing against other big time talents, you know what we all know.

Your question made it sound like you were doubtful of his skills and whether he could be a major contributor.

You said recruiting service's ratings don't matter, remember? They just follow one another.... It's all about 7 on 7's

Just playing :)

Steele- dog,
IMO he is going to be a stud...and soon. He has great size...however, what he has greater SPEED than the other TEs. I have heard that this guy can flat out fly...add that with size and I could see him in a certain down and distant situations and playing ST. He is going to be a NIGHTmare of a match up for any D.

Its going to be awesome when Kelly rolls out the four tight end sets.

No joke. With the quality of our TEs, our multi-TE sets will give defenses fits. Good luck reading that personnel group.

What's sad is your eye poking response to a guy that was trying to be helpful. jonesman tried to help a new guy. Everybody including, GITF, was helpful. jonesman didn't imply anything negative. Your inference speaks to yourself, not him. Who cares, besides you obviously, what "access" you have?

We realize you're knew here. But keep in mind most of the other posters aren't. What's a new topic to you has probably been discussed in detail already. Read, get caught up, ADD to the discussion.

IE sets up Profile's for each ND recruit to try and keep discussions in one place so NEW members can catch up. You'll also notice that there are forums set up for other topics. Again to make easier to find similar topics. You'll find a lot on Koyack in the Recruiting Forum AND in the Notre Dame Football Forum. There's also a SEARCH Function you can avail yourself of. BTW, you won't find much on Koyack in the Leprechaun Lounge where you started this thread.

BTW, you asked:

Then follow up with:
...please do not compare high school to the next level, who knows if mentally he can compete at a premier level.

I'm sorry but aside from his HS football play as documented by those videos, his rankings by the recruiting services, his scholarship offers by coaches across the nation who make their living making such evaluations, and his play in an All-Star game against HS Elite PEERS what other parameters are we supposed to use to respond to your question?

That's like telling a college admissions officer to comment on a prospective student's ability to perfom academically in college without looking at a high school transcript, test scores, references, or an interview.

All high school kids are moving on to the next level.

And, get over yourself.

And BOOM goes the dynamite.

Nobody knows how a kid will translate from highschool to college. Ben played his highschool ball against weak competition, however every scouting service seems to think he's a stud. Brian Kelly and this staff think he's a stud.

I will say this, a lot of you are forgetting about Mr. Welch and I don't recommend that. Welch is a Fasano type TE with more athletic ability. He is the best blocking TE on this roster while having the ability to make plays down the field.

Eifert is clearly the number one but after him it's open. Ragone is solid but look for Welch to take over that spot early if he hasn't already. It will be interesting next year to watch Eifert, Welch, and Koyack making plays down the seam. Tight End U will carry on it's tradition for the next 5 years guarenteed.
