He previously had USCe & Rutgers in a Top 2, but he recently threw ND in the mix.
So that has to tell you something.
Savon Huggins, the defensive remix. Well.. except he went with the other Carolina.

Top 3 of ND, Rutgers, and South Carolina?
This true?
Actually really surprised by this. Honestly feel this might just be lip service but who knows
We are sitting pretty good with these Don Bosco Boys.
Shumate and Wright would be great to get, and we still have a chance at Carroo as well
If Carroo had an offer, he'd already be committed. Don't know what's going on there.
Haha, at first I said we still have a chance at Carroo if ND offers, but then edited my post because I checked rivals and they list an offer. I think he ends up Irish in the end because there is no way they can pass up on a receiver with his talentIf Carroo had an offer, he'd already be committed. Don't know what's going on there.
DB Elijah Shumate of Ramsey, NJ has shaken up his top five. Shumate said that list now consists of USC, Notre Dame, Michigan, Georgia Tech and Rutgers in no order. Connecticut, Penn State and North Carolina were bounced from his top five. Shumate was at Georgia Tech over the weekend. “It was really great,” he said. “I really love the school.” That’s the only campus visit he’s made this summer. He wants to get to USC and Michigan but nothing has been set up. He will not be at USC’s camp this week. He did talk to Gamecock recruiter GA Mangus last week. Shumate said the earliest he will make a decision is the Army All American Game January 7th.
I thought there was a court ruling saying they couldn't use USC or something like that.
Looking back through this thread, I don't see that Shumate has visited ND. There doesn't seem to be much "ink" between Shumate and ND. Rivals only has one Shumate story with a ND beat writer that being the offer story. Scout has two, the offer story and another piece in May about a possible ND visit this summer. Apparently nothing since then. The Kornblut piece (he's a SCar homer) notes Shumate may visit SCar and UM but no mention of ND in connection with a UM (Midwest) trip.
Ironman's connection to ND is stronger than Shumate's if we go by the number of media reports.
Coach D on ISD came up with his safety Big Board and here are the rankings.
1. Shaq Thompson, 6-1, 195, Sacramento, Calif./Grant – 5 star
2. Reggie Daniels, 6-2, 185, Chandler, Ariz./Hamilton – 4 star
3. Nicky Baratti, 6-2, 210, Spring, Texas/Klein Oak – 4 star
4. LaDarrell McNeil, 6-1, 190, Dallas, Texas/A Maceo Smith – 4 star
5. Jordan Diggs, 6-0, 190, Cape Coral, Fla./Island Coast – 4 star
6. C.J. Prosise, 6-2, 205, Woodberry Forest, Va./Woodberry Forest – 3 star
7. John Turner, 6-1, 195, Indianapolis, Ind./Cathedral – 3 star
8. Elijah Shumate, 6-1, 205, Ramsey, N.J./Don Bosco Prep – 3 star
the reason Shumate is rated so low by Coach D is that he thinks he could potentialy grow into a linebacker and plays mostly LB for Bosco so he lacks cover skills.
S commits. Getting #3, #6, and #7 out of your top 8 is damn fine haul for any position group.Looking back through this thread, I don't see that Shumate has visited ND. Does the big board include everyone we've offered, or just the guys we have a shot with? If that's everyone we've offered, I feel a lot better about our three 3S commits. Getting #3, #6, and #7 out of your top 8 is damn fine haul for any position group.
S recruits, at first blush, looks like a pretty weak haul at a position of dire need; but if Baratti, Prosise, and Turner are that high the coaching staff's big board, that should put to bed any lingering doubts.
