Offered per ISD. Brother going to Arizona State... still:

“I have received an offer from Notre Dame,” said Goodman. “I really like them a lot. I like their tradition and all the hard work I see them do on TV. I haven't had a chance to get up there yet, since I'm from down south in Florida, so right now that's all I know about them, their tradition.

Offer list shows that this fellow is plenty good. He would be very welcome at ND in the powerful O-line we're building in the Old ND tradition of tough NFL-desired people-movers.

Will visit Notre Dame this month. Arizona State and Florida might be the leaders at this point though.

Two things:
A). check wingspan before worrying about small height differences;
B). we need a Center.

Yes, we need more lineman no question. But I believe Harrell could make a great center if that is his destiny with the team.

Update on ISD: ND Rising With Goodman

http://www.irishsportsdaily.com/recruiting/premium-football-recruiting

ND Rising With Goodman

Bryan Driskell

Florida lineman Evan Goodman (Lakeland, Fla./Lakeland) has a different focus this summer than most highly regarded and heavily recruited prospects. While other players are flying all over the country to compete in camps, attempt to up their ranking, and visit potential colleges Goodman is going to class. Why would a player with his GPA and academic success be going to summer school? To get ready for his future, that’s why.

“I want to graduate early, so that’s why I’m going to summer school, to take some extra classes,” Goodman said. “Playing time is going to be kind of a big deal, and I think I’m good enough to come in and start. I want the opportunity to come in and compete right away. As a lineman that means I need to get to school early and get more time to get in the playbook and get ready.”

Good news. Kid is a monster. Adding two more OL prospects would be great.

Question for some of you...?

When does it get to be to much? If Goodman were to commit during his visit, and then Peat shortly after, do you stop accepting OL prospects? Even if they are elite? What if Banner and Garnett decide on NSD they want to join ND as well?

Agreed, though the chances that four more elite OL prospects will verbal must be extremely small.

As Alabama two other kids would get greyshirts. At ND the head coach says, "We're full". It's happened before.

My thoughts exactly. Just wanted to see where fans were on the subject.

If Andrus Peat and Evan Goodman commit to Notre Dame I think it would be Talyor Decker and Peat as our future tackles and Evan Goodman and Mark Harrell would be our future guards. Expect Notre Dame to recruit a center next year, we are due for one.

We'd better have a C trained before that. Golic Jr is likely gone after this year, and Cave runs out of eligibility after 2012. I'd love to know who the staff feels is his heir apparent; Watt, perhaps?

Mark Harrell. Also i have heard Connor Harnatty.

I've also heard N. Martin. I hope it's one of the 2011 guys, because the staff won't get their hands on Harrell for another year, and Golic, Jr. will be gone by then.

A good center is a powerhouse who is intelligent and has a mean streak [think Jeff Faine]. Braxton fits all that. From what i've heard [admittedly not much], Nick Martin has that mean streak. [so, it was said, does Jordan Prestwood, but I believe that everyone likes the thought of him at tackle].

(( Prestwood is 6'6", pushing it for a center as to the typical, even NFL, mold. Harrell and Martin are 6'5", just about at the max. Hanratty is 6'4", and that's about as short as we go. ))....((Braxton is 6'4" and Golic is 6'5")). (( Michigan's great center Molk is 6'2"))

I think we are stacked at the tackle position with Taylor Decker, Jordan Prestwood, and possibly Andrus Peat and Evan Goodman. I think Mark Harrell is more of a guard to me, so I think we can move Harrell to guard and recruit a solid guard this year. Then I would have Nick Martin, Brad Carrico, and Connor Hanratty as back ups.

Question: Is Troy Niklas playing offense or defense? I think he should play on the offensive line because it would add more depth and he is a solid tackle

Troy is starting off on D....reports are at OLB because of his athletisism.

It's said he was playing OLB.
