I'm seeing Crist as the starter. Golson getting the red shirt. And despite Rees 4-0 resume, Hendrix getting the 2nd spot behind Crist. It'll all be very close though.

It would make sense for Golson to redshirt. Don't rush the kid.

Just watched his interview. This kid will be special before he is done here. In his one highlight he throws a pass 50 yards and put its right on the hands of a WR in stride. That's serious arm strength.

At 50 yards that's a great combination of strength AND accuracy.
Golson is gonna be a stud when his time comes.

Just watched this on youtube. It's a spectacular performance by Mr. Golson. I really think this kid will be phenomenal once he gets the system down.

The music in the background is pretty sweet too.

And yet Rivals still only gave him a 3:s: rating. #smdh

The single biggest flaw of Rivals is that their evaluation philosophy is extremely rooted in players fitting archetypes. So is ESPN's. If you lack in any particular attribute (size, speed, etc.) you're simply not going to get a high ratings.

More and more I'm becoming a fan of 247... I think they just need some more staff to evaluate a greater quantity of guys at an in-depth level.

That song, "Holy Thursday" was most recently sampled by Lil Wayne on his album The Carter III on a song is called "Dr. Carter".

The track was originally composed/produced by David Axelrod back in the day, like the late 60's or early 70's. His music is sampled by numerous bands/artists, most notable, "The Edge" used by Dr. Dre on the "Next Episode".

Also, I am glad he diidnt get a higher rating. I think he looks real solid and hopefully, he plays with a chip on his shoulder. I am very interested to see where he is going to fit in during the next 2-3 years...

Don't know about 247 but the prototype QB, RB, etc is a major factor in the other services evaluations. Always has been.

Long before there was an internet, Fran Tarkington and later Doug Flutie both 6'-0" like Golson were told they were too small.

Kellen Moore is a 6 footer as is Zach Collaros. Collaros has a listed 4.68 40. Moore has a good time for an lineman, 4.97 Rivals rated Moore and Collaros as 3 stars.

The QB battle between Hendrix and Golson in '14 will be intense.

Um....

Also in 2013. And maybe 2012, depending on what happens with Crist this year. If Rees is going to see the field again at ND it will be this fall because Crist gets hurt again and Kelly wants to save a year of Golson. I appreciate what Tommy did last season, but he is not a BCS-caliber QB, IMO.

I think by 2014 one of the two will be the unquestioned starter (barring the arrival of a Kiel type). I like Hendrix, but my money is on Golson.

Thank you! I might have to listen to his stuff.

I agree with your point. Just to sharpen the end: I’ve stood next to Fran Tarkington. Now, I am always one to chuckle at all the 5'8 inch guys who find a measuring tape that reads 5'11" or 6'. But, having had a conversation with a group, and standing face-to-face with him, I can tell you, he is not 6', not even if I can find a measuring tape that gives me 6'1"! And the same with Doug Flutie who I have been told is more like 5'8" or 5'9". Your point is right on, these guys were awesome in their careers, and they had to have positive press to pump up their size! Didn't Tarkington hold most of the quarterback records for a whole lotta years in the NFL?

Redshirt him this year. Next year on...its his job to lose in my opinion. Let him get mentally ready, as well as learn how to see plays/game develops. Hendrix gettin a package inside the redzone will add more to ND offense than a package for Golson at the moment with Hendrix having a little more power running style. Get Hendrix a Tebow package. Im not opposed to Golson playing this year, just feel like he would bring anything to ND at moment the other guys cant.

With that said...that fade route to Goody in the spring game....thats a throw none of the other qbs can make. That was Clausenesque.

Crist has another year after this so 2013 will be the real battle between Hendrix and Golson

That's assuming Crist comes back. If he blows up and leads us to a BCS bowl victory, he could very well bolt for the draft. If he suffers another serious injury, he would probably hang up his pads for good.

I think UNC is staring the Death Penalty squarely in the face. The situation therebis much worse than U$C. I don't know why Butch Davis still has his job. John Blake is as dirty as mud. U$C did not have a coach culpable in any of their stuff. If I were an athletic QB, I would look at the Irish as a perfect fit. I believe the guy on the other site. he has been spot on with some other stuff. I think this recruiting class can be very good. They won't be the highest rated players. But, they will be athletic, fast guys. I hope we can keep the coaching staff together.

Crap My class Mate plays at unc. John Blake isnt he the same one who ran OU into the dirt and dragged it through the mud?

For a frosh, he handles himself well. I'm looking forward to seeing Everett get on the field, whenever it may be.

"Whether it's not even at the QB position, whether its at the punt return, or anything. Just trying to help the team win."

Interesting.....
