if that really is what happened then he deserves alot of credit. because alot of kids these days in those circumstances would either join those type of people and get in trouble, stand up for themselves and fight them, which would have negative results, or even worse be killed.

so if he was man enough to walk away and just leave the whole situation. then good for him.

he's a talented athlete that just needs the right guidance, he would have had the best here at ND. but its his decision

Let me add one more thing guys before you think I got all soft LOL: He's still a guy I wouldn't want at ND and IMO still a bit of a head-case/drama queen. Because:

#1, why is choosing Gainesville, FL, home of the team with about 30 arrests the past 5 years, if he wants to AVOID trouble? If anything, that's one of the last places he should have gone. Tell me you're going to ND, Stanford, Iowa, Boise St, TCU, Georgia Tech, BYU, hell, even Miami LOL...but don't tell me you're going to Florida to hang out with those jail-bangers. Be honest...say you wanted to win.

#2, I just wrote a whole thing on gangs, but I deleted and I'' just leave it at reason #1 being enough why I'm glad he's not at ND.

I don't know if this is hilarious or proves God hates ND... remember all the "well at least Martin didn't go to Florida" talk?................... Our D front seven recruiting is a complete circus, and all roads now officially lead to Gainesville...

Burton and Lynch, Urban Meyer is on line one.

Here's an interesting quote from Cal Coach Tedford, " the loss of top recruit Chris Martin, a linebacker who transferred to Florida, "wasn't a big blow. It wasn't a good fit. We wish him well. It wasn't working out right. I don't want to have someone here who is a detriment to the team."

Poster on another site with some connection to Cal said he was talking back to coaches and starting fights with his teammates.

His departure did not have to do with "outside influences" but rather his own disruptions.

Talking back to coaches is a great idea. I bet Urbie would love that. "Thanks for the idea Chris, I'll mention that to your position coach right away. Can I get you some cold water too? Perrier?"

At this point, I just hope he grows up or he's going to have a very rough life.

He's his own problem. Best of luck, kid. We all have hardships going on in this economy....figure it out for yourself. No one is holding our hands.

He probably doesn't understand why the coaches aren't sucking up to him like they did during his recruitment(s).

His recruitment was the first that I really cared about. All others before him were kinda like "oh we got Jimmy Clausen he looks pretty good" and not jumping for joy like I did when Lynch recommitted.

Wow..., this is really sad, but it does happen. This kid had so much potential and literally blew it time after time. Hope he gets his act together.

He's at or was at a junior college? I can not keep up with this kid. So he originally committed to ND. Then signed with Cal, then transferred to FL, then to Navarro junior college? And now...who knows where he'll end up or what will become of him. Is this right?

This kid will be the most traveled player in the history of college football. Looks like Chuck wants him pretty bad down in NDSouth.

Three schools rumored to be pursuing him are Kansas, Alabama and Florida State, though Martin refused to comment on any of them.

Kansas is a logical destination for Martin. Jayhawks coach Charlie Weis was the head coach at Notre Dame when Martin committed there as a high school junior. He also just signed City College quarterback Turner Baty.

Weis also hired Scott Holsopple from Florida as his strength and conditioning coordinator, and Holsopple had a strong relationship with Martin when the two were in Gainesville.

Read this without laughing... I dare you...

Rivals.com rated Martin the No. 18 prospect in America as a high school senior. He was committed to Notre Dame before switching to California. He transferred to Florida before ever playing at Cal. He never took the field for the Gators and transferred to Navarre College. Last year, he moved to City College and intends to stay there for a year before attempting a return to Division I.

Despite all his hopping, he would still have two seasons of eligibility at whatever school takes him in 2013.

“That’s not bad,” he said. “I’m actually pretty lucky. I feel like I’ve been to eight colleges already and I’d still have two years left.”

Ex-Gator Chris Martin to play at City College this fall, undecided for 2013 | Gator Bytes blog: University of Florida | The Palm Beach Post

I would take him at Notre Dame... just sayin....
