If ESPN were to rate him as a CB, where do you think they would place him?

5th, behind Tracy Howard (1), Geno Smith (2), Yuri Wright (3), and Terry Richardson(4). This is assuming they simply changed his designation from ATH to CB, and did nothing else.

If the change caused them to reevaluate Darby against Richardson (both are rated at 81, but Richardson is 68th to Darby's 70th Nationally), then I could easily see Darby passing Richardson to become the 4th CB on tangibles alone.

I would like to see him as a starter at CB. But he would have to work his tail off. I also think he would make it easily as a starting Kick Returner.

I hear you,and corner might be his spot, but if we need him to, and he wants to, i'm not going to close the book on running back. we'll just have to see how it all pans out.

What a likable kid.

Edit: (The chick interviewing him isn't terrible, either.)

She actually does have speed as well as ...

let me stop at speed. I like this kid. If I hear he is getting moved to RB I will take a Devlin in my pants.

I thought Rocket was 4.2 forty speed...?

My speed cannot be quantified by any human measurements. It's been 20 years since I left the Bend and scientists still cannot explain it, and linguists have still not come up with a new term for my speed.

Is there a reason he isn't being talked about at RB or somewhere on O?

A couple extra pounds and this kid would be unstoppable!

Believe he has said he prefers DB. I know the coaches have brought up getting touches on offense and obviously in the return game to him though. Woodson like possibly, with more speed?

Yeah I wouldn't mind seeing him play a little offense, but I feel like putting him at RB is like entering a Porsche in a demolition derby.

That might be appropos if you were making him a bell cow TB.

I visualize Kelly using him along the lines of how Holtz used Rocket only in an offense that would make him a threat on every play.

Keep in mind Kelly is still pursuing other top CBs.

Exactly. I'm not talking about lining up two tight ends, a fullback and crushing him between the tackles...

He is also a vital part of being the "ring leader" of this class so far. He has been working on a lot of the elite guys, and will have more time as track has wound down. But, it will be nice to plug him back in the secondary with Eilar Hardy. That's too kids with speed but more importantly good ball skills coming out of high school. Add in Atkinson/Brown/Tee....the future is looking very bright.

I think he realizes that CB is his best position. He would be intriging at the rb position though. Even without having ideal hips, he just outruns angles all of the time.

Not the best news....
Per BGI, Darby wants to take visits to Bama, Auburn, FSU and UNC. Has not decommitted from ND but he feels he missed out on recruiting because of track and wants to be sure about his choice. Take it FWIW.

And to conflict with that you have a quote from Baratti about how the UNC stuff is blown out of proportion and that he is solid with ND and recruiting people to here really actively.

The only school on that list that even has OK academics is UNC... an they're about to get OWNED by the NCAA. He's staying Irish, but like all kids, should take as many visits as he wants to be comfortable.

I'm fine with him taking visits. You gotta be sure or else you won't be happy where you are. All we gotta do is win and it should be fine.

this is news according to his coach, who goes on every visit with him. I would rather hear it from Darby than his coach though.

I didn't get to read the article to see if there were any quotes from Darby, but it sounds like a load of BS. Not saying he won't take visits, but I don't see any way he flops away from the Irish.

Also, NONE of those schools fit his criteria for life after football.
