Top prospects

Marshall Keith Marshall (Raleigh, N.C./Millbrook)
5-11, 190
College: Undecided
This class' biggest game-breaker at the position, Marshall can score from anywhere on the field. His speed and sudden change-of-direction skill are rare, particularly for a 190-pound back with balanced strength. He can elude in tight spaces or in the open field, and his ability to go from 0-60 when he gets a crease is what makes him so dangerous. It all combines to make him the back in this class with the best chance to make a difference early.

New article up on ESPN.
"I think Twitter is pretty fun, a lot of people have comments for me," Marshall said. "Sometimes I'm tweeting things that aren't even football related and people reply. Sometimes my tweets end up on message boards and people try to discuss them or figure out if there is some hidden meaning. It can get a little crazy."
LOL sound familiar?

While im not a follower(I cant bring myself to get an account, FB was tough enough to swallow) I do read his tweets everyday. Stalker-ish, perhaps but, damn it there just not enough ND websites to fill up my day.

Marshall was "it" for me to begin the year before I started reading his thinking.

IMO: Marshall has visions of grandeur the likes of which we see in Terrell Pryor and Cam Newton. His tweets are littered with things sorta like: If you want to see greatness, watch me. He seems overly fixated on the Media and pop culture in general. I know: This represents alot of the top hs players in the country but his are a lil more narcisistic than most.

He also has lamented the idea of "studying" a few too many times for my liking.

IDK, fellas, he may just not be our type of student/ath.

I give these kids the pass because they are...kids. They are sophomore/juniors/seniors in high school....15-18 year old kids getting NATIONAL attention. Some like to take advantage of that and get their fame. For most of those kids there isn't that level of maturity....yet. I don't know Marshall personally but once he gets to the campus he wants to pick then I can see him becoming more serious. If it's ND then Kelly will be sure to bring him back to the ground if he gets out of hand but I don't see that happening.

Notre Dame is a life changing place. People who decide to accept the challenge of the University come out in 4 years better people. I think Ricky Waters was pretty outspoken before he became Irish. Notre Dame could be the perfect place for him to grow as an athlete and a person. You can't go part of the way though, it takes dedication to excel at Notre Dame just like it does in life. #40yeardecision

I pray that you are right.

Lets just say that Stephon Tuitt received alot of attention and he NEVER came off this(marshall) way.

I hope he is just a funny guy and alot of these tweets are tounge in cheek, cause he is a slight guy 5'10 175lb(now way he is 190lb) and with the avg career of an NFL rb lasting, what 2 years, he'd be wise to turn off the twitter and start thinking about life long past football.

Since my twitter account is very obviously Irish, I've tried following some high profile ND targets in order to show support. It never lasts very long, because they tweet constantly about the most inane crap you can imagine. I don't bother anymore.

A lot of times you have to be cocky to be good. It's to help your self confidence kinda. Trust me, I know I'm not THAT great when I play football, but I talk trash better than anyone. And it makes me better.

FWIW on the Rivals chat today the "experts" still think he will end up at Georgia, possibly Auburn.

ND only got mentioned by them once and that was as a potential long shot for Kent Taylor.

They don't like our chances for Geno, Watkins, Sanders Jr., Theus, Bush, or Marshall.

Great point, even if Ricky never actually stopped talking. But I get your point.

I am hoping that he visits and notices the Brotherhood that many other recruits have spoke of and falls in love.

He is also in a long term(i cant believe i know this) relationship so getting her on board may also help.

I dont like our chances with alot of these guys. No offense to you but, so what?

Badger is coming in and should be more college ready than Geno.

Prestwood will be more college ready than Theus and we are still very much in on either Banner and Peat.

Spence and J. Jones are still very high on ND.

And I still think that we have a legit shot at Marshall. His big personality may or may not mesh well with Georgia, although he's already visited numerous times, he's not commited yet. So perhaps he is sold yet. He may like being a huge fish in a small pound.

Look: With or without these mega stars we should be a legit 10 win program going forward.

And we should stop using the term: Team. We are a porgram now. ChuckDavieHam ran teams. BK runs programs. We have tidy locker rooms, the coaches wear the same game day gear, the QB's are in red caps, etc, etc, etc.... Nothing is left to chance and everything is covered. We aren't throwing things out on offense and defense annually. We as fans know what we are now. "Program" not "team".

hrc08 out of nowhere with some legit posts. Nice.

He's one of a few solid posters over at IrishIllustrated. He needs to move over here full-time.

I think NDsince35 goes by IrishinStPete over here, though he doesn't post very often. We need to steal IrishinOntario, too. Get on that, HRC!

Indeed! I've gotten swatted a few times over here already. I fear the OldManMike(i think its him atleast) the most, since I am a notorious typo-ist!

Geez, that's going to attract some attention.

Although he's probably just talking about OSU, Oregon or something else we already know about.

Maybe not though.

He probably just watched college football live. They talked about what's happening at Oregon for half the show. Maybe he heard about he UNC notice of allegations which would be good for us because they were supposed to be one of his leaders.
