I thought this is an important read from (you guessed it) The Observer. It is a letter to the editor from an alumni, but it is very important, I think, for people to see the good that Charlie has done in the community. I definitely think he should be let go due to his coaching shortcomings, but stories like these show why it is a harder (or more emotional) decision than the release of other coaches (such as Willingham).

Enjoy:
The Observer - Thankful for the Weis family

Edit: On a more humorous note, I don't think Weis has any excuse to not continue supporting the program based on what we will be paying him in buyout $$...

I was glad to read this and see it made public. This man gave ALL and he has my respect. The lessons learned are dont judge a book by its cover and woe to those who cut/slash because what goes around comes around. To think he even had kind words for the UCONN QB and qualified it by saying 'we were not boys' but still congratulating him (wow) enough said. I am sad to see him go-my wish was I wanted to see poodle have to shake HIS hand after ND beat southern cal (still love saying that). Maybe even the media who coldblooded murdered this guy will even learn a lesson. We should all critisize his results-it stunk- but not the man and certainly not his physic. Notre Dame football will bounce back and I will applaud the new coach on his success, but Charlie Weis will always have a good slot for me in my mind as a guy who did it right and gave all he had.
